Im Back!!!

Recently out of boredom, I gave birth to my long retired Savage X SS. 2 years sitting to be exact. When I figure out how to post pics, I will do. Mostly based out of XSS parts. 3 Speed, HD stuff all around. HPI big bore shocks. HPI Race suspension conversiion kit, (not impressed with it) but its do ...

Re: *censored*

This guy is a toolbag. Instead of destroying stuff just to see how things work, how about a show where a charity donates a Savage kit or kits to kids in need and teach them how to build them step by step.

Re: Are Oversize wheels worth it?

Good point. Its like comparing apples to oranges. What works well or better in most situations like cars, bikes and motorcycles works against you in R/C

Re: HTL suggestions

LOL 9-10 min. I think im going to go old school and put a header tank next to it on the inside of the chassis. Would hate to do a mid tank mod only because HPI did such a beutiful job making the electronics so easy to mess with on the X. I used to dread going into the old school box.

Re: What are these and who makes them?

@dodgedude,, theres a post on here that tells you how to "bake" the tires off the rim. Ive done it before and it worked, I just dont want to tell you offhand couse I forgot what temp and time I used. Dont want you to overcook your rims. Theres also a how to on here that shows you how to JB weld in t...

Re: beadlocks

Im not bashing beadlocks but I must say, getting back into building a new savage I couldnt wait to try Axial 40 series beadlocks. Unfortunately as SV250 knows,, im having steering issues with the beadlocks and the Suspension Conversion. Hindsight is always 20/20. Crawlers can keep the beadlocks IMO

Hellfire good choice??

Got a nicely modded Savage and was thinking about getting a truggy as backup. I used to run Ofna buggy/truggies but I see Hellfires going for good prices used. My question is are they dated?? I would like to keep my stable all HPI but my main concern is the shelf life of the Hellfire. Truggies today...

Re: Oops!! Duh,,, Doh!!!

@Kiz,, sorry for missquoting you but I learned alot of stuff I didnt know by reading some of your responses,, and yes,, I ordered Ofna 30mm extensions for $21 off ebay and they do come with shims. I have seen a post on here with someone using Ofna hubs, so im sure I could make them work.  @SV250,,, ...

Re: Oops!! Duh,,, Doh!!!

No, I went with the 17mm buggy style hubs. If im not mistaking I remenber it might have been Kiz who said ofna hubs will fit so I figured if they do fit order them, so I did. Just ordered 30mm Ofna extensions. Hope they work. they come with shimms too.

Oops!! Duh,,, Doh!!!

Savage Suspension Conversion and Axial 40 series beadlock wheels dont mix!!!!!! When turning, the inner edge of the beadlock rubs/grinds into the upper front part of the aluminum upright. Rubbed some aluminum down and also alot of the beadlock. I was wondering why the brakes where slamming on every ...

Re: alu shock caps for big bore shocks anyone?

Im doing this mod and I found that its really Hard to screw the Hellfire cap onto the plastic big bore shocks. Anyone of you guys noticed this? I dont want to strip any of the threads on the shock body.

Re: Your view on metal spurs?

I would do whatever Mr. Snuggs said. Go with the thin stock X spur. IMO dont go back to plastic, what Snugg's said makes the most sense if you look at it this way, the plastic spur is also thick so even though its cheap to replace, you might go down that same road again. Also, I would imagine you wo...

Re: Buggy versus Truggy

@Dave. As I posted, I got back into R/C when I got laid up from getting hurt at work. The money I had saved to buy a quad got spent building my new Savage from the ground up. I wanted the bash ability of a Savage with the stability of my old truggy. My old Ofna 9.5 PBS was heavily modified to become...

Re: Your view on metal spurs?

@Mr. Snuggles, That makes alot of sense,, very good advice on the thin spur gear. Now that I think of it, my buggy had a thin spur gear and I never had a problem with it. @Eggbert, sorry to see the damage done. Ive had RR setup years ago with no problems and on my recent build I chose to use their s...

Re: Post up your mods an $$ invested (you will barf)

With buying off Ebay and Tower in about $1,600 invested on a ground up build from scratch. Too much to list and its not all ALU. I have to admit I lost track of the prices but it was way cheaper then starting with a RTR of SS kit. Axial .32, suspension conversion, Flux shox with AL Hellfire caps, Ac...
