I don't personally know of any, but a friend of mine built his own. He actually cut some CF TVPs for me years ago.

Re: Resurrecting the beast!
Been awhile since I fired up an of my trucks too. The local track doesn't run a MT class any more, and hardly anyone runs Nitro. Hopefully this summer I can fire up mine and run it around the yard at least.

The XS is way closer to the original savage the the e-savage ever could be.wheelspinn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:57 amThe XS does a good job if upholding the durability standard with the exception of the stock outdrive cups. Go HD air and you're good to go. I went with the set of hot racing. Things so much fun at the BMX dirt jumps.

Welcome.
Yeah, calling the e-savage was a mistake IMO, it might look the part, but that's about it.

I still check the forum just about daily to see if anyone posts. Not a lot of action here any more, I remember back when my wife would be upset it took me an hour just to go through new posts on here.

You may be right, the Nitro Star engines were made by Force, the HB could be as well. It's been quite a while since I have messed with any of the stock motors.

Wow, that question made me think "I know that!". Then I stopped and thought about it, I am not sure, but believe it is a SH motor. I do believe that this is answered in an old post in the engine section though.

Re: parts
HobbyFever.com, AKA the SC Store, has a fair bit of parts in stock, not sure what you are looking for. Towerhobbies is the HPI distributor last I knew. I have seen quite a bit of parts on ebay and amazon also.

As long as it has enough oil in it I don't think it's an issue. What is the nitro% and what is the oil content?

If you read the entire thread, the subject is building a Savage to reach the highest speed possible, not what vehicle to by that is built to go fast.

I agree with SV250. Some new batts and fuel and fire 'em up.
Get the upgrades after you get them up and running.

Re: New to Savage XS - general maintenance and upgrade tips??
I'll try to answer your questions as asked: 1. I don't clean with water at all. When I do a thorough cleaning, I remove all the electronics and spray the rest down with WD-40, let sit for a few minutes then blow off with my air compressor. Water can get into bearings and cause other steel parts in t...
