Re: On the verge of giving up.

O.S. engines are good, which ones do they have?  If you can't find one locally PM me and I'll see what we have that we could set you up with.  We carry OS, HPI, OFNA and several other engine brands.  If you're going to mail order I'll see if I can help you out.  If it comes to that shoot me a PM.

Re: Any competitive precision shooters on the site?

It is a well known fact that in Canada people do not have guns.  No, I'm just kidding.  I shoot but I'm not into the technical aspects of it.  I've had my LTC for nearly 20 years now but that means nothing whatsoever in terms of ballistics knowledge. If you have an iPhone there is an app called iSni...

Re: Sprint 2

I like mine.  Like all RTR's they leave something to be desired that is for sure.  They are nice and you can improve them to your hearts content.  I like mine just the way it is right out of the box FWIW.  Belt drives have their problems and while as a non-engineer I can't understand why they design...

Re: On the verge of giving up.

Some options worth considering for $170 or less. OFNA Hyper 21 for $130 HPI F4.1 for $150 OFNA Force .32 for $160 HPI F4.6 for $163 LRP .28 for $170 Best bang for the buck I would say is the Hyper21 but you really get your monies worth out of the F4.6.  IMO these are all actually worth more than the...

Re: Picco 28 in short order maybe???

What is the part number for the Picco .28 that you bought?  The 51232?  We have plenty of those and our cost/price hasn't changed AFAIK in a long time so I'm not sure why some places you've seen have changed their prices.  They seem to be plentiful too so you should have trouble getting them and the...

Re: Need wheels for my 3.2 mashers

I've had the RPM Revolvers and I never had a problem with them aside from the chrome flaking off over time and much abuse.  It didn't affect the wheel structurally so I didn't care personally.  Keep the wheel nuts tight, like you would with any other wheel, and expect that if you bash hard the chrom...

Re: Transmission grease

The rule of thumb I hear most is no grease on exposed gears regardless of what they are made of and enclosed gears that are all metal get greased.  Enclosed plastic on metal gears do not.  I can't really say how true these statements would hold throughout the R/C world but it seems to be what I've c...

Re: Transmission grease

I don't personally but I've seen people use a small amount of lithium grease or silicone lubricant inside the trans without issue.  I'm sure opinions on this will vary but HPI doesn't put any in there from the factory and the transmissions are pretty robust right out of the box IMHO.  I would recomm...

Re: went to the dark side.....

The Traxxas are great vehicles, the only problem is the longevity of the brushed motor.  Otherwise, great pick-up.

September 30, 2011 Site Maintenance

Folks, the site will be undergoing some major service throughout the day so there may be periods of downtime such as the brief 10-15 minute outage we just experienced.

Re: problems with this site?

Problem solved.  It had to do with e-mails being sent.  Anything that required an e-mail to be sent was causing the server to hang because the mail server was getting hammered.  Any new account setups confirmation e-mails, reply notifications and PM e-mails were causing the operation to take 300 sec...

I just put something in place to force any requests to http://savage-central.com/ http://savagess.com/ and http://www.savagess.com/ to be directed to http://www.savage-central.com/ so this should no longer be an issue for anyone regardless of which URL they type into their address bar.
