Going to the track tomorrow to practice for first race.

Post by badboy » Fri Apr 24, 2015 8:43 pm

The closest nitro track to me is about two hours away in Tallahassee Florida. My buggy is just about broken in after one and a half gallons. I am going to bring one gallon and drive as long as we can tomorrow.
I will be taking my oldest two sons with me because one of them will drive during the race next week. This track is called capital city raceway or tallahassee rc club. There are some videos on YouTube and they are on Facebook as well. This track races the first Saturday of each month so if everything goes well we will race next weekend.  The track looks like it's going to be really fun to drive.

For awhile it looked like most of the FL offroad tracks were going away, but most have either been taken over and improved (Miami GP)or we have had some new ones open up.

Have fun tomorrow!

Total disaster. Drove 2 1/2 hours started buggy
Drove 6-7 laps
Flywheel nut backed off a bit shredding the collet
Didn't have another collet
Eat lunch
Drive 2 1/2 hours home

This is the second time this has happened to me in a month. Once on my savage now on my buggy. I am confident I used thread lock but maybe I didn't who knows. Anyway I had an extra at home and reassembled this time using thread lock and all the torque I have in my hands. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've learnt to have on hand almost every part that can be replaced. The only parts I don't have extra in my tackle box are the diffs and another tranny. I even have a spare 4.6 engine with clutch shoes, stock 17 clutchbell (non-vented), and already mounted on an extra engine mount already good to go just incase the other engine craps out for whatever reason. Having a vast assortment of hex screws (as well as the stock philips screws which I didn't throw away) is also a wise idea.

I probably have 3-5 clutch collets on hand but never needed to change one on the fly. And the RC track is only 20 mins from where I live.
Looking for well modded truggy/buggy, PM me! Also maybe Savage X/XL
