Picco 28 in short order maybe???

Post by LLkoolskillet » Sat Mar 09, 2013 11:04 pm

So I went lookin at Picco 28s again cause I need to rebuild two motors. Well its cheaper for me to buy the motor than it is to buy the parts individually. However a few weeks ago the price for the picco was $189 and now there all back up to $199 and higher. Also there is a huge backorder list of parts for the picco. Does anyone else find this strange?

The lhs in my town wants $280 for a picco.28 and something like $270 for an sh.28 p8 (I can get a modded one for less than that from ercm).
Thats why I get most of my rc stuff online.

LL what do you have 5 piccos now?

I read that the US vendor changed.  And if you go to the Picco website, the p3 .28 wont be there.  The "new" vendor doesnt have the P3 listed, only the boost 5t pull.

This was the reason I went ahead and bought two of the P3 .28 and sent them both to robin.  At least he could look through them and if any new parts were needed he could get them.  I doubt they are going to vanish, but I bet it will be harder to get that new vendor to carry parts for engines he never sold.  "We dont carry parts for that engine, here buy this newer model instead."

The only difference will possibly be the carb and cooling head, the internals will still be the same.

What is the part number for the Picco .28 that you bought?  The 51232?  We have plenty of those and our cost/price hasn't changed AFAIK in a long time so I'm not sure why some places you've seen have changed their prices.  They seem to be plentiful too so you should have trouble getting them and their parts for some time.  Very strong engine and for as long as they've been around they're still one of the best options for a replacement engine for the Savage.
