I think it looks kind of gay, poor savage

But I'm sure it really works

 Show us how masculine yours is Saeb before you negatively criticize others work. Not that there's anything with being gay

Mine isn't masculine at all, since I prefer broken and scratched cooling heads.

Only joking buddy, but those curvy bends really make me itch, Im sure it has to do with strenght and dampening.

So, how did you end up bending the rods 5avag3?

Thanks Joker and Pluh for the positive encouragements, yes I still have to put bars across when I get some epoxy....Saeb you're entitled to your opinion bro...I would still like to see your work though.

Shinobid, the secret to bending these rods is PATIENCE man....as I forgot to take dad's heat gun with me I still had to use my small flame torch, use a soft yellow flame and heat carefully or it will start to bubble up on you with toxic fumes. I can see why they don't mass produce cages with this material, because it is a pain in the rectum area to bend. You may want to use some leather gloves as the material absorbs the heat especially being black in color. I had to use the heat gun also while it was on the truck, so keep your fuel away when you are doing that, as my header tank nozzle caught on fire.

I also found the best way to cut this material is by using secateurs or branch pruners, way easier than a hack saw. This material is tough, I tried to file some burrs off and the file seems to just slide over it without scratching.

I reckon if I was to make another one I would use 8mm thick, it would be much easier to heat and bend.

5avag3,I must say I was expecting something different, but I think that is an effective design, i dont know if epoxy will hold up? Donovan actualy screwed in his cross brase, with the ends of the cross brase round notch'd (like a roll bar)   anyway looks good man cant wait to see final result's.

Well got my nylon rods today and did a couple off test bends!

Here are some lessons i've learned sofar!

1. There is a fine balance between under heating and over heating nylon. To little and the rods barely bend and to much and the rods start to form "boiling" bebbles on the surface.
2. Getting round the stock tank is a real hassle!  If the rods are bent to protect the engine head, they are in the way of the fuel tank cap and visa versa.
3. This is one time consuming process. A jig will sure help in reducing the time it takes to fabricate the cage. Guess thats why these cages are so darn expensive!

I'll get some pics up tomorrow!

You guys that are designing the cages are showing some skills, and are about to encounter something that I encountered when I made my TVP's.  (Keep in mind I am not trying to discourage you, just offering up my experiances.)
I first made Lowered TVPs after trying to work with another member that was making extended stock height ones.  He rejected my idea politely saying that he didn't think there was a market for them, so I found a way to get them semi-mass produced locally.  I made and sold 10 or 15 sets.  The guy I tried to make a deal with, who had made a name for himself, came out with his own lowered TVPs, and was selling them for a bit more than I was but offered a warranty, he later went out of bussiness.  I sold the design to another SC member who I haven't seen on in a couple years, and I have not heard of him selling a single set, he got the CAD drawings with the purchase of the last set of TVPs I had from my only production run, a year after I made them.  I made a total of $250 over a years time and 100+ hours of design time and paying someone to cut them for me.
Next I decided that I would make 10 sets of lowered TVPs out of carbonfiber to sell, very cheap compared to other CF TVPs.  At a selling price of $50 a set, I sold one, because from those that expressed an interest, (except for the one.) I wouldn't offer a full replacement warranty.  (At the time the cheapest CF TVPs were about $150 a set.)  I had already ran them for half a race season and at the 2006 bashfest, and I am still bashing the 1st set I mounted.  I ended up giving the rest away at the 2007 bashfest because I was tired of looking at them, total cost out of my pocket was about $500 after the 1 sale and paying the guy to cut them.
To summarize my self pitying ramblings, don't get upset if you don't sell any or get an interest in anyone buying the designs, you guys are making some good looking cages.

i get what you are saying

i kinda figured it would be hard to sell something like this and that is the reason im looking for a really cheap way to make the strongest cage

it must be simple and be quickly built if it is to be cheap

here is my new idea in its first stages just ignore the body on the truck as i could not find another top view picture
Image

i figure why not make it look like something other than a rollcage ???

I live in the poor side of town....and been around negative thinking people all my life, but despite the fact, I managed to get myself an education somehow....still you can take the boy out of the hood but you cannot take the hood outta the homeboy.....
I'm on another level FELLAS!!!!

Here's a sneak perversion view of the front surgical arrangements 8)
I hope my photographic composition skill is hitting the right angles....
I'll have to practice some filming and editing soon to start endorsing my merchandise/product..

My Fams getting hungry, my wife's screaming in the background my kids crying on my lap, if I don't make some CREAM out of this one. I'll be back on the block.. just kiddin...
This creation thing is getting me highhh.....or maybe it's the nylon fumes...and epoxy glue..

remember...It is not what your SAVAGE can do for you....BUT what you can do for your SAVAGE!!!
