What was so wrong with being able to edit the post?

In case there is a dispute later. We need the agreed upon terms. If they can be changed, theyre not much help.

Sorry about having to change the way the BST forum works, we know it affects you sellers.

However we can't take the risks of people altering their descriptions after people have paid money. On ebay for example, after someone has bid, you can't alter the auction information - you can only add information on. This keeps the buyers safer.

Hope that helps.

you should put a timer on it.. say 1hr after being posted? would make it much easier on the seller. plus you will get much less "spam" i guess u can call it as ive had to do it like crazy in my f.s thread as i could post somthing then 5mins later theres more to post so instead of editing it in i have to post again.

The software the site is built on only allows for editing or not, a timer is not possible.
I did not do this on a whim, I put a lot of thought into it, and decided that this was the way to go after asking the mods thier thoughts.  We had several instances in the past where if the edit function had been disabled, we could have proved the complaint.
It has been brought up that the BST should be member specific, or a privleged forum, meaning that the mods or admin would have to grant you access to it before you could post there.  I don't like that one, because it puts an unfair amount of work on the mods and admin to look through every applicant's post history and approve them, I personally do not have that kind of time.
Another suggestion in the past was post count.  That doesn't work either, as 2 offending members were well over 250 posts at the time they tried to screw someone.
The last option I thought about was shutting the BST down completely, and deleting every forsale thread posted in any other forum, that isn't fair to you guys.

Thanks guys I see your point. I just thoght the edit feature made for a cleaner looking thread but if you can't be honest it hurts everyone.

Thanks again,
Dan
