Private Messages

Post by SYAWEDIS » Mon Mar 21, 2011 4:42 pm

Hey guys,

I've been using the PM and always find myself cross referencing to see what message was replied to.

I thought it would be cool if you could make it so any message you reply to would include the original message for the recipient.

Example:

ME says: Hey, how are you?

REPLY: "Hey, how are you?"

          Good, how are you?

Just a thought

I think there is a "quote" option you can use instead of the "reply" option, so the original message appears in your reponse.

Ahh, so I just need to check the "quote message" box, and it will show the original message to the recipient?  That works for them, but won't help me if they don't click the quote button as well.

Maybe it would be better if the "quote message" was selected by default, and people could deselect if they want?

Very true, and a good idea. A person can always delete the quote if it auto-pops up.

I find the same confusion with text messaging. I don't own a cell-phone, but my son has one with texting capabilities. I just use e-mail to send and recieve texts from him. If there's quite a few (as you can only have a small amount of text), it gets confusing to know which answer of his goes with what question I sent.

No hope for the texting, but there may be for PMing here.

Eggy - the iphone keeps a record of all the text messages for/from each person...all in the one page..  :)

I'll look in to it, but the "quote message in reply" option is your best bet. Not sure if PHP has the option you are requesting.

Thanks squid. I just mentioned it because I thought it might be an easy thing to do.

i agree with this problem... it can be confusing when it comes to selling stuff as messages get mixed up...

when and if there is time, can someone update it??? Many forums have updated from this... makes messaging etc much more of a pleasure
