Cox Engine Dragster

Post by whipnet » Sat Oct 06, 2007 6:32 pm

The one that started it all for me.

These things came out in the early 70's and I got one. There was no steering, you just started it and hoped it went straight.

I ran it about 4 times and it screamed. I swear the thing did 60mph, but I was a kid so I am sure that's exaggerated.

On the 5th run it smashed into a curb and then a tree and broke in several pieces.

I never fixed it, but thought about this thing my whole life.

I found one here and want it, but the price is steep. Check it out.

Did anyone else have one of these?

:D :D Cool never seen that one before. I had the 57 chevy and my brother had the dune buggy.... I had a lot of blisters to get it to run the few times it did.
Drive it like you stole it!!!

Yes ................I had one.
You were sposed to run it on a string with a knot near the end.
The knot in the string tripped a lever to release the throttle and a parachute.

I never hit a curb...............just seized the engine trying to run it to lean.
( it ran so much faster when it was too lean)
LOL

Well I never had that one but I did have the 57 chevy, my friend gave it to me for my birthday and it just went in circles cuz it was on a string. I also had a cox plane what a pain to fly and get running but I was like 10 yrs old back then.
If Its Too Loud...Your Too Old..........and if makes your ears ring drive it faster!!
