I had so many I remember the 9 volt mod in the vans would also glue two sets of tires together  for duals on all corners

For those that don't know, a "switch" is not something you turn lights on and off with...

Edit: I loved those trucks.

I can remember when Sears sold the Stompers big kit - it came with a couple of chassis frames and you actually had to build (install) all of the gears, axles, motor, tires and had about 4 different bodies in the kit to choose from.

Anyone ever have any Rough Riders?

Man that brings back some memories!!! :D
I had a mess of them and the obstacle track (wasn't a race track for sure lol) it had hills/rocks to climb, a rickety log bridge, and a mountain at one end that you could either climb the hill and come back down or if you went to the (left IIRC) it would go under the mountain and come out by lifting the hinged hill and driving underneath.

This is a totally generic version.

This track is closer to what I had but mine was a complete loop that you could run til the batt died without touching the trucks.

HA! Here it is! :D  :D  :D

Too far over 35 and a person might be too old for them. I don't remember the Stompers at all.

My brother and I had Kenner SSPs, like these, and I was almost too old for them at the time:

They were definately fast, and a friend had the Smash-Up Derby ones, like this:

Lol. I remember those. Stupid foam wheels that would soak up water then end up rotting. I think I had one with rubber wheels. They met their demise to some firecrackers.

I also had that crash up derby set (it was my brothers). It was a volkswagen bug and a truck. The parts fell off when the front bumper got pushed in. I think the old toys were better than the new ones. We use to play smash up derby with our metal Tonka trucks.

This set:
