Building up the Hyper 8

This one's for you, Corey. Shows the telemetry module.

Well, my reverse bit the dust. Engine just revs when I shift into reverse. I guess that STS was too much for it. I'm gonna have to clear a space on my workbench for the Savage so I can tear it down and remove the module to see if I can fix it.If it's a shaft broken I can turn a new one out of titanium at work. If the gears stripped I'll have to see if replacements are available. Either way, I still plan to be at Oakley Sat. morning. Just with the Savage though, the Hyper 8 won't be done for a while.

yeah yeah yeah....
jeeez that motor looks huge for that buggy.....
I didn't even know you had reverse in the savage?
It's almost easier to just buy the titanium shafts but if you got nothing to do I could use a titanium front center dogbone....hint hint....
I gotta work sat and sun so no playing for me...
I did just pick up the new great planes SA5 WW1 fighter though....
looks sweeeeeet

Well, carp! I gotta work tomorrow too. Getting off at 4:00 am, going home to sleep a couple of hours, then working from 9:00 am to whenever I get a rush job for G.E. finished. There goes my bashing for the weekend.

Ah man, 70 hours last week.
It will most likely be like that till the end of the month. Gotta make up for the time lost for a 4 day Thanksgiving weekend, and a 4 day Christmas weekend. Plus a rush to get stuff out for the end of the year. Oh well, can't complain, really. Working those kind of hours is what buys me my TOYS! Just don't have much time to play with them is all.

Speaking of toys, the reverse module is toast on the Savage. I guess that STS .30 was just too much for it. So I took it out and put the stock gear back in.

And here's 3 pics of the new toy. Painting the body. Won't have time to finish it till next weekend. All I need now is a starter box and I'm set to go.

Yea, I did buy a hump pack. That ones just there for testing!

Do you notice the amount of toe in on the rear wheels? Is that normal for a buggy?

yes that is normal...you can change it by changing the anti-squat (toe) plate in the front hinge pins
It all adjusts on how the buggy accelerates from a stop and out of turns
they make 2.5 mm and 3 mm plates

man, i've been away for a while. Missouri the week before last, then vegas last weekend. I finally get a free weekend. I'll be at Pegasus probably both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Give me a call Corey to go out and run. I haven't ordered my new motor yet, but my extended chassis is hooked up, i haven't driven it yet though.

I managed to get the paint done today on the buggy. It's Pearl White fading into a Pearl Blue. I only used cans on it but I just bought a airbrush. So when I get some practice on that I'll try another body.

I'll try to go to Pegasus too, if you're there at the right time. I've never driven the Savage on a track!

OMG!!

That buggy is insanely fast! I ran through 3 tanks, then on the 4th I started driving it around a little. It wpuld barely run with the glow ignitor off it, it was still so rich, but by blipping the throttle I could get it moving. After a few feet it would clear up and just take off. I can't wait to do some tuning and get it in the dirt!

Hope you all had a good Christmas! See you guys later.

Richard

Well, did your GF get you the telemetry kit?

My wife gave me the starter box for Christmas, along with a gift card to Hobby People, and all my friends gave me gift cards too. So I went there today with a fist full of cards, not really sure what I was going to get, if anything. They had this on sale, but I figured it was their store brand and probably was not very good. So when I got home I checked it out, and turned up plenty of positive reviews. So I went back and got it. Very nice, has a 3mm pan, came with hitec servos and radio, .18 engine, and I already ordered a Spektrum receiver for it.

Nice little 1/10 Stadium Truck.

Don't care much for the factory paint job, but what the heck, can't beat it for $199.00! I pulled to roto start off my old Savage engine, and much to my suprise it bolted right on. It's a XTM X-Cellerator. Crappy name, nice truck.

Old_Dude actually for hobby people they are not bad little trucks at all. I know quite a few people who run those around. No me and my g/f decided not to exchange gifts this year considering we just moved and that was pretty expensive. So we just thought it would be nice not to have to worry.....
It's all good though..Have fun with that little stadium truck...you will learn fast to apreciate 4 wheel drive!!....lol

That's understandable. When we bought our house, we got it in October, and it tapped out all our savings and then some, so our first Christmas in it was a little lean, to say the least!

Oh, I appreciate the four wheel drive! But it's fun to have something I can swing the back end around on in turns!

Has anyone been past Oakley? Is it still there or has it been paved?

Got extended tvp's for the Savage, have an alloy gearbox coming too. Also picked up a 1:10 road car (blazing fast!), and a Truggy!
Not doing much with the Hyper 8 yet, the starter box just does not have the torque to spin that mach 427. I think I'm gonna have to see if I can mod my plane or helicopter starter notor to fit in the starter box so I can get that engine in the buggy broken in.
