Today's little project..

Swapping out this:

Got some time to put this little project together. I was originally thinking of just building another Savage from scratch but instead have opted to just try out these upgrades on my current savage. Hopefully I can finish it in time. (Have a party to attend to at 6pm)
Looking for well modded truggy/buggy, PM me! Also maybe Savage X/XL

Looks awesome, man. Great job!

Let us know how you like the Alza brace kit. (I have one I'm putting on here soon.) Then, go back the scene of the crime that caused below...and show 'em what's up!

p.s. You might consider updating your sig line as it appears you no longer need one. .-)

I_Like_Nitro, the brace kit is really nice. My only gripe is that there is that little peice that goes in the middle of the 2 front braces that does not fit correctly. I had to dremel a couple millimeters off both lower arms to make it fit.

But other than that, the kit looks rock solid. Everything else fits nice. You just have to cut off a few tabs on the plastic skid plates which have now been rendered useless.

I have to get some of this newer HPI arms as it seems HPI changed the design on arms a little.

@Mshark, have you properly aligned the front of 3 braces, as the pin should go little into front 5mm closing brace
so the 2mm rear closing one should lay flat on the 5mm one?

I'm actually still looking for one... but for the right price! I missed a couple of good ones when I was on vacation. Bigdawgsavage was selling 2 awesome savages for $550 for both, not each.. both! One was a new savage X that he built up, the other an older Savage 25, both had new LRP engines, both had ERCM pipes, and a few other basic mods. I would have bought both of them.

Hey Dejan how are you? Everything fits fine except that little supporting peice that fits inbetween the main brace and that closing brace. The lower A-arm seems to have a little staggered shape. 1/2 of that part facing the bumper is larger than the other half facing the diff.

but I got it to fit perfectly. No biggie. I was concerned I had to shave off a lot to prevent binding but it was only very minimal.

I haven't had any problems with doubling the 2 front stock braces except from time to time the extra brace would fall out on hard, awkward landings. I rigged up some ghetto solution by wedging a little peice of wood inbetween the 2 braces and screwing them into place to keep that extra brace from falling out. However the wood cracked after landing hard. That's when I decided to just get the ALZA kit. I'll post any reviews when I get a chance to go hard again on jumping. Especially now that I got the 4mm IRC TVPs, I hope they hold as well as the stock ones did.

However the only review you'll hear from me would be only if the kit fails. lol

It seems that HPI changed the lower arms a little as how it seems there is aditional material
on the a-arm that couses the binding. All the original arms I have at home do fit perfectly.
Have you some realy closeup pictures of the arms, as on HPI website they are still the same
pictured as I have here. Probably outdated pictures.

Thank you for the picture.

As I suspected this is new version of lower arm which has some extra material on the brace side.

Will have to get one to measure it.

Nice upgrades. When I brake something then I upgrade or replace.

I broke 2 bulkheads, 1 hinge pin, and 1 front brace. So now im trying the ALZA kit. The IRC TVPs and 3 Speed were just chance buying. I bought everything for 105$. Brand new all that would have cost $200. I couldn't pass on that offer, especially since everything was brand new. LoL if someone were to sell a brand new clocked Nova or Picco for $300, Im on it like flies on $hit!!

Okay, thanks...I was not prepared to dremmel any part of this Alza kit. I mean I can, but tend to be a bit of a butcher with my dremmel. Looks like i have the older set of arms, but we'll see.

I told Dejan what I would love to see is a set of captured hinge pings with nylon nuts...this allows more precision with respect to arm-play...which I am fanatical about. Everyone should be. We do all this work on our suspension, and if the a-arms are binding it's all for nothing.

I didn't dremel any part of the ALZA braces, I just shaved off that little bulge from the lower arms. I just used a course grinder on the arms then manually sanded it down with 120grit sandpaper followed by a 300grit. Its now round and smooth like the rest of the arms. But come to think of it, I think it's better to shave off a little from that middle piece since it does nothing but keep the 2 main braces from binding the lower arms. It's just basically a spacer.

I fired her up today and pretty pleased. 2nd gear shifts way too early so I'm going to have to do some adjustments tomorrow if I can.
