Ofna Picco/boost parts .28

Post by ASBURY » Sun Dec 06, 2015 4:03 am

Looking to replace parts for a pulls start  ofna p3 .28 with Picco  boost parts if compatible. Looking for. P/s/r set really broke my connecting Rod yesterday. Seems that the Picco boost is being discontinued this pull start version. Should I invest in another. Mill that will give more ump than the Picco. And parts want be hard to find in the near future??  Open to suggestion if you guys no anything else than will compare or give more gain. Not really a fan of rotar start but again open to suggestion. For my savage xl

P/s/r will be almost as much as a new one.

Id go withe new. Picco, lrp, or nova. Nova direct is selling the .28 8 port for $170. Thats cheap.

Neils Gen 2 Mod ZR30 SP2 is a torque Monster and puts down just about 4hp. His less powerful modified ZR30 has an X doing back flips. Your going to find a lot of Picco Fanboys, for good reason they are great engines, but the ZR30 is the torque Beast. IMO the higher tq of the ZR30 is doing more for the Savage than the Piccos lil bit more HP. HP Picco > LRP but Tq LRP > Picco. LRP engines make sick torque.

My ZR30X has my truck popping wheelies with 45/19 gearing running over 50mph top speed. It's not even modified, just a Sick engine. Some Modified engines owners thought a Stock Mill would never get the Savage over 50mph but a Stock ZR30X has done it.

LRP engines are superb in Savage Trucks, the 2 compliment each other very well.

Novarossi is behind Neils Dyno crusher, & I'm not sure but I think his ZR30 makes more torque than the Nova.

Novas rev like champions and make great power and are the dyno king. I believe the Nova rev the highest, but gearing can have a engine revving 26k

Ok now I am stuck between the nov and lrp. Nov has pull start which I like and lrp. Dyno shows nov having the most power according to Neal chart and combo. So now I have to figure this out and of course they will be modded. Sinister you think the lrp is a little more torquey huh. Wish I saw both in action

Nizzlemysnizzle has vid of the nova on his youtube channel.

Neal has russ' vid of the lrp on his site. He has since added more power to that already impressive engine.
Meaning more power to the lrp? In what way?
This is a video of the first version of the ZR30 mod

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHRiEJY ... e=youtu.be

Pay no mind the driver in the video can't drive lol hits the only thing out there broke sumthing and video ends quick lol

More power is made with Neils 2nd version ZR30 mod he's done after the video, so more power than what you just saw.

Close in horse power to Novas and Piccos , the ZR30 is making grrreat torque (displacement grrrrr) that's good for wheelies and lets one do some standing backflips if they want to. Just about 4hp and 150oz-in torque.

ZR30 is IMO the best engine for a Savage it has the torque the Savage needs pulls high RPM with great hp and every Savage owner with one is anything but disappointed.

I have Neal's modded lrp 30 with nova carb and I love it. I have less than a gallon through it right now and I can't say I have any doubts about this motor. I have always been a lrp fan and have owned all of they're engines except for the .32 I have had the  Lrp 28, 30,30x and I have to say wow. but have never owned a modded engine until I bought this one and I just love it. I have heard awesome stuff about Neal's modded nova Rex legend 28-8 and would like to try it once this motor gets tired. If I had to do it all over again I would defiantly get a lrp. They're really great engines and tune easily. I just want to try a nova cause I never had one. Good luck with whatever u choose to get, if you haven't already
