I have ordered from them once or twice...but that was few years back....
I've gone thro those negative feedbacks from recent buyers of Phil's Hobby, and they seem genuine....you just have to be careful when dealing with him though....

are you not able to find alternative sellers who have what you want?..

Yeah, I'm unable to find ANYWHERE and I mean anywhere one item which they have. Others have other items I need but these guys have everything including that one which I can't find anywhere.

Let's say the try to scam, or the package is lost, or they ship wrong items. What's the procedure then? PayPal, eBay? Who do I contact, how can I be sure they will give me my money back.

if you still decide to order, then that's the risk u have to take....
however, if you use paypal, i think u can still go thro the ebay fraud thingy and get $ back....but it's quite a hassle.....and sometimes quite a "long" wait...

I'm paying with PayPal. I just talked with a guy from Phil's hobbyshop, and he was very nice. They have everything I need in stock. What would you do? What's the procedure with PayPal if this guy doesn't want to help.

I ordered from them about 6 weeks ago, just some screws & washers, everything went smoothly for me,
You are protected with paypal, if there is an issue, you will get a refund, But it can take a few weeks for that.
I would order from them again.

Here I am with the story. If there's a story behind a deal, means it didn't went out perfectly.

I ordered 4 small items and 2 sets of wheels. They sent me right 4 small items, but the wrong color of rims. I wasn't really *censored* off because I didn't need them very soon. So, they sent the right wheels, but wrong color. I ordered black, they sent me chrome.

I called them, and the guy said that I can keep the chrome ones for free because the shipping would cost them more than they are worth. They shipped the black ones the same day. I got them fairly quick. The thing that would stop me from buying them again is this. I called them before making a purchase, and wanted to make sure they have everything in stock, because they got a lot of negative feedback for putting stuff on ebay they don't have in stock. Same thing happened to dodgedude with his tank he ordered from them. So, I called the guy, and he said that everything is cool, they have everything in stock. And when I was calling again 2-3 weeks later because I got the wrong ones, he said that they didn't have the black ones in stock, and that Axial messed up with item numbers. He said that they have loads of chrome ones and they ordered black ones from Axial. While talking with him, I am on their eBay acc and watching black ones listed for sale, and while I'm watching that, the guy who I was on the phone with, asked another guy in the shop are they able to get the black wheels.

Ahh yes, Good old Phils Hobbyshop.

Excellent prices
Excellent selection
half hearted customer service
And the "what did I really get" Game. lol

I have ordered form him since, His prices are sometimes too good to pass up. Other than the extremely long, tooth pulling process of getting a 30$ fuel tank, I have had no real issues.

Glad to hear you are going to end up with what you wanted in the long run, and some free wheels too :)

RC SUPERSTORE is the one i would like to add. i have only ordered from them on ebay. i have ordered off of them 3 times cause their prices are pretty darn good. but their customer service is what my dog leaves on the grass....   8O   BUT all 3 times i had problems. first off they never give a tracking number. they will not answer an email unless you threaten them wit less then 5 stars or to start a case against them...  4 weeks not a single response. i emailed them 3 times a week. once i mentioned a case against them they refunded my money that day. they have sent me the wrong skid in the right sealed package. also had stuff on backorder but would not give me any info. did not let me know either. package showed up light. and not 1 of the 3 orders showed up before, around or even a week after the promised date. this is the only place i have been treated this way. so i have to assume its not all my fault...  lol  i will never deal wit them again. maybe not everyone has this experience wit them, but i have let it happen to me 3 times from them. so shame on me....

I have had problems with Phils and other ebay shops not having the parts in their ad. Poor inventory management.

RC superstore, however has served me well. Maybe its my location, but I get my parts in 2 days. They have always had the parts I ordered.

i know i'm new here, but i finally got my first savage after many years and years of people beating the snot out of them. :D
BUYER beware of ebay seller WAYNEC3061

I got the truck and it stated new savage x kit that he built, with servos, and everything except radio and receiver. Well i got the truck, and there were a lot of minor problems. Tires unglued (not a big deal), stainless steel bolt randomly all over the place (said 85% were stainless steel, i mean my servo is held down with half stainless and half not, and they are two different lengths), top of the roll cage bolt was wrong size so it wasn't long enough, wrong throttle servo saver adapter for hitec servo, throttle arm was put on backwards, no bolts were loctited, doesn't look like he used rc paint, after one day of bashing its all chipping off, and the bolts look like he used a partially rounded out allen wrench to put it together, these were all minor besides the adapter. He also used the wrong bolt in the throttle servo and forcefully threaded it in, destroying all of the thread inside the servo, and after one day of mild bashing, there is tight spot in the driveline.
Needless to say, when i got the truck i had to do a lot of work to get it running, which included getting a new servo
I asked for a partial refund of $20 to cover the damages he did to the truck and the wrong parts, he said no refund and he was just going to glue the roll cage because it was the wrong bolt. So now i went through ebay to try and get my partial refund. I've been in the hobby for 8+ years now, and i have to say this truck was put together very very poorly. Just thought i would let you know.

Head's up for Active Powersports (http://www.activepowersports.com/)

The prices are great and the times I got their message where nice, BUT...

1) they took long to ship. Even with stock items. I didnt get my order for weeks... I had to ask for a status before they shipped a partial order and they are only an hour drive from me.
2) communication is slow. there is no phone number to call and you have to rely on email or they web messaging system to get answers.
3) they dont tell you if the item you ordered is out of stock and you're on a back log. they will not ship a partial order unless you ask I found out after waiting past their expected ship date.
4) the parts that were not in stock and said they will have in a few days NEVER came back in stock. after 60 days of waiting, i asked for a refund. It took them 2 weeks to refund me the short items that was not shipped because I had to message them again asking for my money back.

If I'm short on cash and have the patience, I'll place an order with them.

Before you order, double check if they have the parts and have them hold it specifically for YOU. then place your order. Just my 2 cents.

This is a heads up about an ebay seller cristi4240 who sells the Gorilla Snawt RC Grease, that quite a few people were using on the diffs in their Savages and other RC's. Here's the sellers ebay shop- http://stores.ebay.com/Gorilla-Snawt-Lu ... 4340.l2563 (If I've inadvertently given them some free advertising then I'll be really very annoyed...)

I paid for some of the Gorilla Snawt on the 7th of June, waited for about a month and it didn't arrive, so contacted the seller. There was no reply, and I was still waiting for the grease to finish my new build (it was the only bit I was waiting for!! )... I waited for another 2 weeks and sent a second message asking whether it'd been sent or not... Again no reply.. Another week or so went by and I sent a third message, saying that I would be asking for a refund if they didn't reply in the next 24hrs... No reply.. So, I tried to get a refund, but didn't realise that after 45 days you couldn't get one, so no refund and no product. ?:x

I've checked out the sellers feedback a few times recently and it seems like I'm not the only one who's not got what they paid for.

So, I'd strongly recommend that you stay well clear of the seller, and unfortunately the product, which was supposed to be quite good.

Maybe something bad happend to him. He could have some kind of accident.

This could happen to every seller that works alone (one man company)

That's very possible Dejan, but you'd think that after ~4 months of people not receiving items (must've been around the end of March that they ceased being sent out), that something would be done to take the listings down while they investigated what's going on with the seller?

I guess that wouldn't make much sense for them though, if more money might be lost in their system like mine was....
