Not a bad idea

Post by LLkoolskillet » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:59 am

I guess it wasnt a bad idea afterall to buy my wife a plotter lol. She made me some cool stickers for my truck. Also if she's mirrors them they can be used a stencils for body's.

DUDE! Um... can you talk her into taking orders for stickers/masks? I'd LOVE to do some custom paint masking for my truck...

If those are the ink-jet printer kind?

They are fine for stationary objects,,but they dont stick for crap on my truck.

It would be hard to use them as a mask,,you have to cut them out.

They will stick long enough for a photo shoot,,but thats it,,a light breeze will blow them off.

this one looks good though,,its ink jet printer type (not the cash)

That's awesome! Both the plots and the fact your wife is cool with your hobby and helps with it. I keep trying to get my wife into it but she just looks at the $$$ lol

I have a link to an rc website that found the correct materials to do this and make it stick good.  When I get home this week I will post the link.  The website also had a couple of things that could be used for stickers.

If you want to search for it, it was some sort of RC drift website if I am not mistaken.

From what he said, I think the plotter his wife has uses a blade to cut the vinyl, rather than having a print-head. The stickers he is showing are individual letters. If they're good material, the adhesive should be strong enough to last for years, like the car club stickers on my Buick. If he uses a thinner material with a non-permanent adhesive, they would be perfect for vinyl masks.

Sorry I forgot I posted this thread lol. Anyways the plotter is a silloutte cameo. It does use a blade.

She has to make designs and she can also download them off the Internet. She can also take a picture and turn it into a sticker. Ill post up more info on what she charges. Her Facebook page is B&B Custom Creations.

The wife let me make this last night. It took me about 2 hours to figure her machine out but I got it. Idk what I'm going to do with this sticker now lol. Was going to make a stencil so I can paint it on a new body or put it on a set of TVPs I'm making. Not sure tho.

If anyone is interested and has a design they like. Send me a pic, it's prefered that the pic be in black and white as its the easiest to create from. Not sure on the price but obviously the more detailed the more money.

My wife has a cricut machine from walmart for scrapbooking. You can put vinyl in it and make decals and use transfer paper to put it on just like professional vinyl guys. I made wheelhorse decals for a garden tractor i restored for a guy. You by cartridges of designs and scripts. If you got the right cartridge you could make any decal you want
