Do i need a protective backing coat??

Post by these_savages » Thu Nov 14, 2013 12:13 pm

So just finished off my savage xs body the other day.

The way i did it :

1. Started off by using steel wool on the inside of the body.

2. Washed the body clean with dish soap and a brush.

3. Then dried it and put on the first layer of paint very very thin.

4. Then went on with 5-6 more coats , started off pretty thin and gradually made thicker coats.

5. finished off with a couple layers of black coats.

I used my heat gun between coats to speed up the prosess.

I used the Tamiya PS "clear red" and "black".

So after i was done i removed the window masks and the external plastic. I talked to my buddy and he told me i MUST use a protective backing coat over the black.

Do i really need it?
