Savage center diff LowCG 4x4x4 custom TVP

Post by Tor_evo_20th » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:27 am

Here is my other project going along with octane 5b.
Savage Flux Low CG 4x4x4 custom TVP. My own design again. This idea came from running Savage with e-revo in the track and we both tends to turn so wide. This is just want to turn in narrow to get advantage over revos and hope for better time. And just to try if this idea could be good for Octane 5b 4x4x4 or not cuz i want to use octane in the 1/8 track. As i could play around with 6x6x6 in track before.

Mount motor is low not like other they could still slide for pinion adjustment.
Easy remove of center diff same as buggy.
This i use Tekno motor mount so i have 2 choice for Motor castle mamaba green 1515 or Tekin truggy motor.
Esc will be mount on motor mount on top of aluminium. Which should not over the bar in the middle.
Center diff is from hotbodies D8, both whole center diff with mounting.
Center dogbone are from Savage XL front and rear.
Receiver box from firestorm.

Next should be shock up using rear shock from Vorza. And do simple tower shock to fit with D8 body mount front and rear.

the dogbone angle at the rear CD outdrive is rather high. It may cause problems with overheating. I had the same problem with even a smaller angle. Try putting some CVD boot over the diff outdrive and the dogbone and put there grease to keep things from overheating ( basically it is the grease that is important, the CVD boot just prevents dust and sand from getting inside and mixing with the grease). Just my 2 cents.
What servos are you using?
Looks nice!

A little update on shock tower.
6mm aluminium 6061 series with
Shock up i use is Rear vorza bigbore cuz for me iti is easy to get parts for maintanance at  LHS.

Body mount using D8T
Wing is from D8 or Vorza or Those HPI HB buggy.
Still missing EsC and motor and also bumper as still not sure what grease to put in front and rear diff hpusing.

Still need another piece to lock rear shock. Rear shock already got wing mount holes.

Last is 4 wheel steer for inside turn should be narrower than Revo.

I wish I had your machining resources. The truck looks great, especially the LCG shock towers!
What motor are you planning to use?

I am sorry for not updating because I was very busy with the work. Now along came ESC and motor combo for rainy season in Thailand. I use Mamaba 2 combo with redesign the front receiver plate so that it hold both esc and receive together. And they could be remove in one time and ready to wash.(This is 1 piece so just unscrew some bolts and unplug the wire. itis off the truck. Because the servo are already have o-ring from factory so they should be fine with a few water. ( servo is Savox 1268sg for both front and rear 26kg /0.11sec) I also put 10A castle BEC inside receiver box along with Receiver. under the esc is extra cappack holder this hold 2000muFarads 35v. This help cool esc but motor may be hot so fan may be needed if you run with lots of load on the truck.
I test this with 6x6x6 6s and they are working fine with 1 motor but it needs very good fan for motor. This 4x4x4 should have no problem.

Here is the new motor being assemble on Tekno motor mount.

After put on new receiver front plate with esc on it.

Here it is with all wiring ready to run. I use XT150 plug as they could hold a lot of amps through it. If i remember correctly 200A. I do not want to have any problem with plug melting. With dean plug it happen to melt when i use with 6x6x6 or Lowcg flux XL.

Here is with new body.

Last thing is Video. Next week I will try again because the other track is very high grass. So next week hope with no rain i could run in bigger track during daytime.
