4 stroke on 8 wheels savage by patoch racing

Not your average Savage Hop ups. These are highly modified, with some home-made parts.

hi every body

Here is a project started 3 years ago: install a four-stroke Brand aircraft engine cylinder bi laser on a savage!
this post will show you the whole story to get to it (for now):

in short, a crazy project with system design engine cooling, bowler by zipper, custom gearbox, clutch and a specific non-standard frame!

hi,
thank you all for your comments.

the project began with three unknowns:
- Cooling the engine .
- The change of the reduction gear box .
- A clutch for use range 1500 to 10,000 rev / min .

implantation of the motor is provided for four wheels and a savage wheels 8 .

Project 8 wheels has become a priority because I had to meter the power and 8 wheel , it was more reasonable with 4 wheels.

I got the chassis Nabucho twin or flow to turn to receive that big engine.
on this picture you can make a comparison between two 5.9HPI motor mount on the big twin and the laser :

engine cooling is achieved through two fans set to the cylinder heads and actuated by a belt drive from the crankshaft:
Image

Unfortunately the system of electric fans was not intended for mechanical control, so I folded myself on electric aircraft turbines.
I removed the engine and I replaced it with a bearing on spindle.

Image

I put a ratio of 1/8 for the fans to give me a breakdown of 12,000 rev / min and the slow 80000tr/mn in full speed.
made of the speed of an assembly with bearing is prohibited, so I made a steel mounting + bronze for guidance.

Here are the bronze bearing turbines:

resulting when mounted:

and plastics processing turbines:

and assembling all its support:

the next article will be on the flywheel with the starter system and clutch.

hi,
Here the study of the body design!

I am inspired by an existing model
Image

3D I first make the file on the frame, I have quickly realized that I had to do two model: one for the top and one for the bottom.
this done I'll have two pieces together to have a single body.

so I will thermoform two parts!

I start making masters by cutting block polysthyrene.

I verified that the proportions are good relative to the frame of 8 wheels
Image

I continuously producing wood veneer glued on polysthyrene to make the hard part for thermoforming.

Then I begin to paste the details of the elements of the body

Then I made the bottom preparing a move triangles and shock.
