Thanks Andreg! How is your IRC silver and black savage coming along? Fan of the same scheme as well eh? Hhaha. Here's an update. I got the plastic pieces--firestorm box mounted up front, rpm box mounted to the side (relocated it higher so the swaybars could clear), plastic grab handle, and some dark grey rear flaps.

So I got half a full set of CEN GST shocks (they usually come in eight). I figure these things would be stout since they're made to handle the weight of a 17lb truck. For $16 shipped to my door...Why the heck not? So here they are mounted on my rig. Keep in mind there are some issues I need to address to make these work. For one, they are about 20mm shorter than the savage BBs. This is going to lower my ride height at the expense of travel. To gain more droop I could buy a multi-point shock tower like the FLM's I have on my other truck, however spending $50 + dollars to make a set of $16 shocks doesn't make sense. I could also get longer shafts from the savage big bores and swap them into the CEN shock bodies....However, with the longer shafts i'm afraid they might be too long and pop off a shock cap or bend a shaft during a big jump. So the solution I came up with are the IRC lower shock mounts intended for the LST shocks. The metal block is raised up and has 3 mounting positions. I hope by using this mount and mounting the shocks in the inner most position, I can get at least 8-10mm more travel. That's all I need to make this work. Other than that these shocks are pretty sweet for what I paid and for a stock setup they are pretty firm. I reckon they feel just as firm as LSTs with 40wt and raven dual rate springs. These are just test shocks mind you....I have another set of shocks that I ordered for my final setup and i'll reveal them as soon as I get them. For now, this will do and it appears to be a fantastic backup set of shocks in case I don't like the primary ones I chose for this build. For those of you who have tried this shock setup or have a Cen GST I would like to hear from you regarding this suspension!

I dunno what they are I bought em used bagged up in the clearance aisle of the LHS. I think they're discontinued JConcepts Rulux because I own a set of white ones and they look similar. They are slightly smaller than desperado/badlands. They would probably look awful on an XL sized savage, but on a standard they are perfect to me. Here are the white ones I have on my slayer:

Further google search of Jconcepts Rulux, and I saw this, So it appears to be the Jconcepts Rulux Wheel:

Got my servos, servo horns, linkages, wiring, all hooked up. Just need a jst connector to run my on/off switch, and the rest of my shock parts and I'm ready for break-in. :D

Nice work man. I wish I had the time to put into RC that you do. Work, house and running the kid to tennis practice and matches has eaten into my RC time for the last few years. Working on insulating and heating my garage, so maybe this winter I'll have time to put the XS SS together that has been sitting in it's box for the last 3 years unopened......

Thanks squid. Im a property manager for commercial real estate so much of my time is spent at home in my own office--that is of course for a majority of the time until the first of the month where I'm collecting rent, and hunting down people for late rent, or on site taking care of general repairs. So much of my time I spend at home tooling around on my RCs or my 69 Camaro. I'm also not married and have no children--I do have a fiancee that keeps me on my toes. Other than that plenty of free time for me to do stuff that puts a smile on my face. I kinda lived like an adult at a young age, been engaged to the wrong woman twice (story of my life lol), so now I'm barely catching up on my childhood and getting to do stuff for ME for a change even though I'm well into my mid 30's. I took my own interests for granted by putting women first so now i'm making up for lost time by doing me, and fully embracing my interests. Plus my current fiancee is super supportive, and loves the fact that I have tons of hobbies to keep me grounded versus going out there and getting into riff-raff. So, for this time being....RC builds it is!
