88gtanotchback's Carbon build II

Post by 88gtanotchback » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:21 pm

Hey guys, i had built one of these awhile back, but sold it off so I decided to do a rebuild.  I started into it tonight on the Rear end of it.  Started with the bullet proof diffs, HPI Suspension conversion, sway bars, upgraded bearings, and truggy big bore shocks that i bought off savage sams race savage.  For carbon fiber i have the rear wing mount, shock tower, bulkhead braces, and the bulkhead lower plate.  Everything went together great in the rear, and im hoping to get a start on the front end tomorrow.
heres some pics of the progress so far.  Maybe ill be joining this infamous 50mph club i keep hearing about soon.  lol.

Nice start buddy :D  That 50 mph club is a fun challenge, what gear are you planning to run? I may have to renew my membership if the competition gets any tighter 8)

im probably not gonna go crazy on the gearing.  I have a 18-47 combo ill try out.  If i get the need for speed i got quite a few options kicking around in the tinker box.  and Cadimman, she should be racy, lol.  im not racer but there's nothing wrong with bashing fast!

Oops, my bad   I meant gear as in heartbeat, not gearing.

I got that modded sh .28 from you that I love.  It's in another truck that I'm still running but once I'm done the build I'm gonna switch it over to the light truck

The SH .28 is an amazing engine.  Let me know if you hit the 50 MPH.  If you do I may have to try this quest myself!

In all honesty I can't remember which shocks they were.  I bought them awhile back but have always liked the big bores.  I saw them sitting there and figured why not.  Lol.  I forgot how much I enjoy doing these builds, hopefully I'll get enough spare time to keep it rolling along

Shock towers are PRC, they fit great, but unfortunately it sounds like larsens customer service is lagging these days.   Great stuff but he must be busy with life so it's gettin harder to get some of the things from him.  also with the carbon fiber I have heard they don't hold up great to bashing, but I'm a sucker, I gotta find out for myself.

Got the front end and mid tank all set up tonight.  I'm gettin pumped to get this thing running.   I'm going bashing this weekend so my goal is to chip away at it each evening and get the bugs tweaked out.   I'll get pictures of the front up tomorrow!

ok guys got her all done up tonight, minus fuel lines, air filter and whatever else you notice in the pictures, lol

With the front I added a rush battery box on the front, as well as an aluminum servo saver set up.  I know it goes against the purpose of shedding weight but the no slop steering is worth it to me.  :)

I went for the ofna 250cc tank for nice long run times, and its a clean install look when finished. Used with a savox 1256TG for the steering, and the 1258TG for the throttle and brakes.

and all buttoned up.  PRC Chassis, and skid, ERCM SH. 28, ofna 086 pipe, and some mulchers to hook up the power to the ground that the trucks sitting on.

Let me know what you guys think.

Wow, that is so hot.

Where did you get those parts and how long for shipping?  I really like the look of it!

Can you get a closer shot of your throttle linkage and steering linkage for your mid tank mod?

Your truck looks amazing!

If you wouldnt mind would you please weight your truck, as your total weight would greatly help me in my quest to shave weight on my truck, as we have a similar setup
