Is the 3rd gear on the tranny adjustable too?

If it is, how do you adjust it?

Yes 3rd gear is adjustable, it can me adjusted thru the holes on the side of the tranny. 2nd gear however you have to pull the tranny apart to adjust it.

My 3rd gear is maxxed out

Argh... I spent the day dealing with gremlins  first the truck decided it was going to only start in 3rd gear. The little grub screw in the 3rd gear clutch backed out a locked the tranny in 3rd. Now this did anger me at first but when i kept noticing the speed out of it my anger turned to being impressed. 20/26t gearing @71.8mph locked in 3rd gear hehe   ERCM power at its finest! The next gremlin, was the radio and it continued to haunt me the rest of the run. It kept cuttin in and out and loosing signal. This is very frustrating. So im replacing the radio for another and hoping for the best. Ive got to say this tho, the flysky FS-GT3B is a great radio this one lasted me 2yrs and has a range of at least 1000feet. Not bad for $40.

Makes me think... how much weight would you save by locking it in third and getting rid of the other gears? I mean, it obviously has the torque to get rolling in third and pull to speed, so why not?

Is that a crack or just dirt in the 3rd gear clutch? right by the adjusting hole in the gear.
If you not braking something..... your not trying hard enough!

Honestly you can hear I loose so much rpm down low that its not very practicle and my run out distance is even longer. If I push taller gearing I won't be able to get into the power band. This is why a single speed application such as locking it in 3rd won't work. To short gearing you don't get that top end speed you want and to tall gearing you can't get into the power band. Even if you found a nice combo it's not enough to reach the speeds I'm at anyways.

My goal is 75 and its proving to be extremely difficult to obtain right now. One I get the truck dialed back in we should see some more gains in mph. If I can reach 75 then I'm going twin and shootin for 100 but realistically 90lol

Got some goodies today, I've read nothing but great reviews about this radio and the range is over 1000' I also picked it up for $104 shipped. The rod ends are to help eliminate the slop in the steering. Even with a modified GH bell crank and the new flux tie rods, a few cartwheels at 70mph will trash anything. So I'm going to put all metal everything on the steering, I also have some GH hubs that will be going on as well. I'm not worried about scrapping anymore weight and in fact I've added a half pound since I broke into the 70's. I hav no issues breaking 70 consistently and even locked in 3rd ;). So by adding more metal I hope to take out the slop, at least for a few runs lol

3pl ftw... im gonna save the 40 id spend on the flysky and drop it on one of these.. maybe even the 4pl or whatever the next one up is. whats the part number on those rod ends.. i need to scoop some myself. So all GH stuff in the steering besides the tie rods from the flux will make a big improvment over the sloppy stocker correct? Mines sloppier than a 2$ lady of the evening.

Oh I'm still ditching the flux tie rods to. I have some Lunsford TI rods I'm going to try and fit on the GH ends. I really hope it removes the slop cause I could litterally see the wheels fighting each other going down the road. I'm loosing some hard earned mph right now because of this.

Go to eBay and type in savage tie rod

Please note this, if anyone buys the hot racing alloy rod ends they need to buy the set of 8. Why because you can buy a set of four but they are sold in standard pitch and reverse pitch. That's why you need to buy the full set of 8 for $32. I no have to buy this set argh!!!

Figured out where all my slop was coming from on the steering. Turns out the little turnbuckle that goes from the servo horn to the bellcrank was all sorts of jacked up and loose. I do have some alloy ones on order. Now the front end is all alloy lol. GH hubs, hot racing rod ends, HPI TI turnbuckles, GH bellcrank(modified) Even with the little bit of extra weight it should net me the mph gain im lookin for as the wheels wont be fighting each other haha.
