i cant say im the biggest fan of that mounting location. imo, it looks like you have enough room to invert the steering servo on the engine plate and use a shorter bellcrank set, like this one for a nitro rs4

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yeah-Racing-NRS ... 58a32fa44a

just a suggestion

a shorter steering bell crank could be a solution. They are cheap on ebay, get a few and try to mod. If it is possible, try a different servo mounting position, like this Image

Guess you have to do it like mine current 5B 4 wheel steering. I guess you will need longer TVP come out the front to support steering to make them strong.
Image

There are some pics in the url below on 6x6x6 Savage may be some servo mounting that could give you some more idea.
Savage Thailand

another idea is extend the TVP of the front using XL rear dogbone to make the front longer so you could put the steering and steering servo on the side of the engine.
Image
Pics show the my design Flux XL lowCG TVP mock up with 4 wheel steer on the back. Mine finished version is similar to this but a little bit change. will show you later this week once the real TVP is out of machine.

just notice one thing. You front caster will be different and back also. The truck may run strange when finish.

from the picture

Normally Savage have a bit of caster angle similar to this.
Image

for chopper make this a lot of caster and a bit harder to flip if there are holes on the road. Shock will absorb the bump and you will not be in danger
Image
Now imagine if you are driving chopper with no caster the which means front fork of bike is 90 degree to the road. You hit the holes on the road and the bike will most likely to flip. because the shock will be less effective for the bump.

Good point on the castor angles.

Something else though, that I can't figure inside my little head.

What is going to make this truck drive forward?
The only thing I can see that makes it different from any other "mid-tanked" Savage is the relocated bellcrank and the body is on backwards.

Shouldn't this thing drive backwards and rear steer?

What's going to make either the engine, transmission or the diffs reverse their direction so it will drive as the build intends?
