Question about tires

Post by MonoSavageX » Fri Apr 17, 2015 11:46 pm

This may very well be a stupid question but im gonna ask it anyway.....

How can you tell if your tires are on backwards?

I was looking over the truck I rebuilt earlier and I noticed that 2 tires I had on ran one way and the other 2 are on the other way and it dawned on me that I have no clue as to which way is correct. Further more it got me think that there must be a simple way to tell but I just don't know it.

Is it the curve of the tread that is the clue? Like I said I feel like this is one of those things that is simple and once I know ill never make that mistake, but I just don't know lol.

If your not supposed to break them, why do they make new parts?

If you switch te wheels the tread will still be on the wrong side on 2 of them...  Did you glue them yourself?   Are they stock tires?   Got a pic?

tread should be facing forward in some way.   Most patterns will have a point or narrow tread in front.

Well it all depends on the tyre itself, not all are directional treaded. EG the stock HPI GT2 tyres or the set that came on the Sav 21/25 with that Chevron pattern ARE directional. Just imagine the pattern as an arrow (with the point being the middle of the tyre), you always want the tip of that arrow pointing forward.

On the other hand most other offroad RC tyres these days are not directional and have an open design from the PL Badlands, HPI  Dirt Bonez to the JC 3Ds

Your welcome, glad it helped!
Believe it not I had a friend that never managed to get it and always mounted tyres backwards LOL! First time I saw his TRX2.5 Tmaxx back in the day it looked confused,   he may be dyslexic or something

That's funny cause as soon as you made the arrow reference it was like a light bulb came on.
