What kind of track? Blue groove? Hard clay? Sandy? bumpy? Smooth?

If it's hard clay and they keep it watered to keep the dust down, M3 holeshots should work pretty well. If the dust piles up as the day goes on not so well......

Yea I don't actually race at all and when I do go its usually just me at the track. And they let me hose the track down if I need to.

So what should I be looking for dimensions wise when getting tires for rims cause before I was just buying based on the like 2.2, 3.8 etc

But I noticed these wheels don't tell me that I would assume that they are a 3.8 but I am not sure.

Proline - shock wave... 3.8 inch, 40 series rubber, directional tread pattern and don't balloon much which in my view gives better handling, steering response, cornering and stability at high speed. Would be great on hard clay, also good on road.

Proline badlands ... 3.8 inch ... If you have ever ridden motorcross bikes these are similar with knobby tread and they bite hard but imo are less effective on hard packed clay because they don't have a large contact patch. Awesome for bashing on looser surfaces though.

I also like the HPI bones ... Not as good quality but pretty good traction, lightweight and always good to loose weight in an MT because it improves acceleration. I'm a newbie on this forum but I have raced motorcross bikes and still own one and have rebuilt full size car engines in my home garage.

Hope this is useful, good luck dude.

Quick revision based in re-reading your post, Shock waves would struggle in mud and if clay is super wet, they would clog quick and get slippery. Badlands preferred if clay has a soft and wet layer.

Re measurement, just get the tape measure out and check out the diameter, the tyres I was pointing out were 1/8 scale with 40 series side wall.

Ok so quick update I went out and bought a set of 4 holeshots it is possible that I got the wrong size.... cause they fit the diameter of the wheel put the tire was wider than the wheel... on the package it says they fit the LPR 3.7" so whatever I just bought a set of orange dish wheels that where LPR 3.7" and they are a perfect fit.

but I did find some mulchers online that I think may work but I need some specs and cant seem to find the info anywhere

They are proline 1085-00 Mulcher and the wheel is the ofna wheels #86103

Your ofna wheel specs are:
Diameter: 3.5" (89mm)
Width: 2.28" (58mm)

According to a few websites they work with any 1/8 scale proline or tmaxx MT tyre. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/ofn/ofn86103.htm

They are identical in size to the HPI dish wheels that I have, but I don't think they fit any proline because they look too small in diameter for the proline shockwaves but appear to be the right size for the HPI bonz tyres and obviously the entire HPI savage tyre range in that case.

Btw you should expect the tyre to be wider than the wheel itself. That's always the case... It's the inner bead of the tyre that needs to be close to the width of the wheel so it seats properly. I would go to your LHS and take wheel in a check if a proline tyre fits properly.

I would check for you but my proline tyres are glued onto my proline rims.

Yea I did take the wheels in with me to the LHS and that's how "they" came up with the holeshots, but when I got home and opened them the tire was nearly a half inch wider than the rim.

Thanks for the info though I will look into HPI wheels as well and see what I come up with.

its interesting though because I have read on other forums how people have used mashers with these ofna rims but there is no way unless its like a 3.2 and they are stretching it over to make it work.

Just to clear up, I'm not sure the mashers will fit a savage wheel. I was just saying your of ofna dish wheels would fit the HPI tyres.

As far as the mulchers go, I'm assuming they fit proline wheels. But if they are 3.2inch then I think these would fit...

Btw did you ever fix your phantom gearbox binding issue and what was it?

Yea it's the mulchers I can't seem to find specs for. And I don't have any hpi wheels anymore since my stockers blew up on me. Now I have 4 sets and a set of wheels that I think I want the mulchers for.

I have a set of 3.8 badlands on desperados
3.8 roadrages on desperados
3.8 mashers on f-11s
3.5 holeshots on lpr 3.7 orange dish wheels
