Proline masher 40 series or trencher x?

Post by boothy0807 » Sun Dec 18, 2011 7:06 pm

i have the chance to get hold of some 40 series mashers, on the other hand im also looking at the trencher x tyres
im getting Axial oversize 8 spoke black rims, but the tyre choice is mashing my head
i run 50/50 on road and off road, new to nitro cars so i dont jump big (although would like to haha)
im a casual basher but i bash hard enough to brake both rear right suspesions in a rollover/cart wheel 20 minutes after arriving :D
my main reason for new wheel/tyre combo is mostly for new looks but also would like a set of all round performing tyres
i like 40 series for a wider wheel to prevent the truck from rolling on its back which it seems to do alot
id like off set rims too which i hope the axial's i choose are

id like to hear your advice and pros and cons if any for the two tyres. S-C members have a wealth of experiance and i trust your opinions
any recommendations are welcome but i do like the big joes and masher looks unlike the dirt bonz and terra pin tyres
Thanks in advance

I'm in the same situation as you are and I'm leaning towards the trenchers myself. Just my .02

Btw can you post up some pictures of the rims you are thinking about?

i forgot to add its a savage x with stock f4.6 engine

@Legacy23
exact same setup as braco posted above
i saw your pics a while back Braco along with this post modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=811687#811687
thats what brought my attention to them, im swaying towards the mashers. how are you finding them?
my main concerns are stability when conering, durability on the pavement/road and if i have to gear down

Stability when cornering improved A LOT for me. I don't know how will your stock length like the big tires though. On the pavement, I can't roll it, I can't, it just powerslides. The durability on the road is not the best. But it won't be with any tire that's good offroad.

that sounds good, any improvement is good, ill look at lowering it too
the road usage is for tuning it and those moments of boredom, when all you wanna do is hear and smell that nitro screaming up and down, plus my nearest bashing spot is like 6-8 miles away haha
ill admit the mashers on axial oversize spokes do look smexy, its like they where ment for each other :D
its a shame there so hard to get a hold of

I like the Mashers too, always have. I found that they were the best all terrain tire there is for the Savage. When I do nothing but dirt it is badlands. When I do mixed it is always Mashers.

They do look really nice! Not to thread jack or anything but can we see some pics of the trenchers to compare?

Edit: And just so that I have to create another thread. What's the diff between these and these? And will they fit these?

Dont know much about the Trenchers other than their ugly.

Masher are great, but like every other great Proline product, theyve discontinued it. I hate Proline.

Just an update, after looking everyone online iv decided on the trencher x on 1/5" offset desperados
the reviews put this tyre as the ultimate bashing tyre its my only decent option for a wider than stock tyre, savage GT2 being 86mm and trencher X at 105mm
thanks for eveyones input and ill post pics as soon as get them fitted on
