IMO any flux available now can compete with the x-maxx.
That thing is hopelessly underpowered.

I don't think HPI  wants to make a truck of that size.

I agree with caretaker.  My standard length flux is pretty big and has plenty of power on 4s. It's as bulletproof as it's going to get with the alza cd. And I've already seen videos of the xmaxx breaking with pretty normal driving. Mostly diffs and shocks were breaking.  And you can have a flux with batteries for the price of the xmaxx.

deffo would not trade my savage flux for any traxxas plastic model, as mentioned its bullet proof, xmaxx for me is just too big, maybe hpi just gona tweak the savage flux a little

Unfortunately, that is NOT the XL Flux that they've unveiled a few weeks ago. The new one is based on the Octane chassis, has a different radio box, mounts the ESC on top of the transmission, and has a few other design features that look like they may be a step back. I'll have to get a better look at the motor mounts, for example, but it looks like they may have moved the motor closer to the center by way of moving it higher in the truck. If so, that would seriously harm cornering performance.

Hi Fellow "Savagers"!!! here is a direct and updated link to the new Savage Flux XL http://hpiracing.world/en/kit/112609

Video can be found here https://youtu.be/lQNGmmPTC1M

From what I saw on the pictures and video, HPI missed out on a few opportunities to make this a bit better. For one they could have gone with hex screws all around, 17MM wheel axles, reversed battery boxes (so that the open outward), wider battery boxes (at least by a milimeter or two?) and a cover to keep the front and rear hinges from popping out (the ones by the bulkheads on top) just to name a few. Granted, this might not be the final product and more changes/improvements can be incorporated at the time of purchase but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Cheers!
