Turnigy are usually good, but I burned out a set of NanoTechs with my MMM in no time. Now I use a set of SkyLiPOs from Hobbypartz.com, with my Hobbywing ESC, and they don't even get warm. I think the SkyLiPOs may be the best budget battery out there. They're certainly the cheapest at less the $35 for a 2S 5000Mah 40C.

Alternatively, Hobbypartz also has BlueLiPOs which might be slightly cheaper, but I think are slightly to tall for the boxes, or Gens Ace, which I'll be using for my Slash 4x4.

You can go higher,,

But if you go lower,,it will be shorter run times,,and lower amps.

5000x30c=150amps
4000x30C=120amps
3000x30c=90amps

You want the highest C rating you can afford,,and the highest mah that will fit.

Zippy,turnigy,nanotachs from hobbyking have all  been great for me and plenty others.
Ive heard good thing's about skylipo & blue lipo from hobby parts..

Do some searching & compare shipping,,Hobby king has a US warehouse,,so shipping is faster,,but product cost more,,
Hongkong warehouse is cheaper,,but shipping offsets the savings..

Time to roll up your sleeves and start doing some homework.

Castle Creations, the guys that designed the motor and ESC, say that 5000mah 25C is the absolute minimum. Anything less simply can't take the braking current. Realistically, if you use the equation above, and your battery comes out over 120 amps, you should be good. You want your batteries to be able to supply more current than your ESC is rated to draw.

avoid them,,hugely over priced.
And not a great reputation compared to suggestions above.

I'm using the Turnigy Nano-techs 6000maH 25C-50C from Hobbyking. Still gives 150amps and runs longer! :) Just fits perfectly too!

These are the batteries I use...
Turnigy Nano-tech 3S 6000maH 25C-50C

HobbyKing Turnigy Nano-Tech 3S 6000maH

I use the Castle Link Kit to control how much power I want so I don't need to start with 4S, just went straight to 6S and adjusted the throttle curves and punch to my liking!

I've been using a Gens Ace 6000mAh 2S in my XS for 9 months, no problems.  Seems a great battery to me but I've nothing to compare it with (apart from a LiFE battery which was a waste of time / money).
Tamiya Boomerang (mid-80's), Mardave Marauder (early 90's), now Savage XS RTR on Badlands and Gens Ace 6000mAh 25C LiPO.

IM RUNNING HYPERION 45C, and TURNIGY NANOTECHS? I  had a few NANOTECH bad right from the get go...  Cost more for return shipping than I paid for battery...Left a bad taste in my mouth.   So I decided to bite the bullet and go with hyperions really good customer service and exchange program and have really high charge rates I charge mine at 25amps all the time with no heat issue-swelling etc...!!!!

Picked up 2 each of these recently for too much money. Haven't heard much on these yet so thought i'd give them a go, should be interesting.

Another vote for Turnigy, I've used them for years, only killed one 2s pack.  Order a bunch or get in with a buddy to maximize the shipping cost.
This is my Savage.  There are many like it, but this one is mine.

hyperions would be my choice if cost wasnt an issue.  I ran them and loved them.  Ive since switched to turnigy nanotechs just for cost reasons, and they have been great as well.
