What header are y'all using for Nova / Werks / Ofna pipes? I tried fitting up a few different pipes I had laying around (OS2060, Nova 9856, JP-3). The header pipe on all of them hit the rear shock tower....

Is griding required to get them to fit, or is a specific header needed to run a buggy/truggy style pipe on a Savage?
I run all those pipes and all those headers on the Savage (usin three different engines) depends on the roro-start version. V1 plays better with Dynamiter and V2 with OFNA. What o you want to see a picture of? Tell me what you are considering, (pipe/engine) I'll pop it on and run it for you...

I've got a V1 with the newer HPI Nitro Start (no OWB - shaft engages right in the center of the backplate).

The pictures I was referring to are closeups of what needs to be modified for clearance. Of course, if you have video of the engine running with any of those pipes, that's a bonus. Thanks....

I've done some digging with my xss rebuild and was short of options as well with stock TVPS but what I found that fits out of the box without mods was rd logics, THS and the nova 41001 manifolds. Each of these companies also sell headers individually if you were considering buying another mani.

I bought a THS pipe and mani and was intending to run it with a JP4 pipe and know the rd logics and THS manifold fits the nova pipes. Not sure beyond that though. You might have to do a touch of grinding either way with your roto in the middle.

Switching to a single shock system obviously gives you some more room but also costs more money.

I have also found the Nova 41005 mani also fits the stock Savage X... No grinding rqd

Pipes are always a touchy subject around these parts.
I own the ercm pipe as well as the jp2,3,4, 053 and 086 pipes. They all have their place.
The best thing I can tell you to do it look on youtube.
Search for your motor and the pipe your looking at buying.
Youtube has been around for almost 20 years and there is usually a movies of almost everything at this point.
I do this with motors, pipes, wheels, pretty much anything I need rc wise.
Also everyones opinion of how a truck should perform is different. You can decide how you want it to run.
Decide what you want it to do and make it happen. I get just as much joy from modifying to achieve a goal as when it is handling how I want it to.
That just my $0.02

I don't get into politics over a hobby - it's like 1:1 cars some people like Ferrari others Lambos, it's personal choice. I know I found it difficult to find many options to fit my standard X chassis and added my bit to this thread for anyone that's looking for a straight fit into an X without having to extend the chassis... I looked forever and a lot of previous choices are no longer available e.g the TSAIS or STS... Adding to the list I thought would make life easier for anyone interested.

I have a THS, JP4 and currently run a nova 9886 pipe and 41001 manifold which IMO is the best I've used - extremely well made.

To continue to provide maximum choice for savage owners, here is another spring coupling manifold that fits the stock X chassis and gives owners much more pipe selection options ...

REDS Racing 3.5cc Off-Road Dual Bend Manifold (X-Short) part# REDCL210091

Any opinions on the Dynamite 086 pipe?

I have the Hard Anodized Dynamite 086 and Ofna 086. The HD Dynamite is bulletproof, you can clean it with sand paper its so hard, after about 3 or 4 years now mine looks new. My truck runs over 50mph with it attached to a ZR30X.

I also have a dynamite 086 on mine and I love it. I think anything is going to be better than the stock exhaust though. The ofna or dynamite 086 has my vote, with the right tuning you will have great results.

I have been looking for an exhaust hanger for my Savage XL 086 Dynamite pipe.
Any suggestions what I can use? I tried the wire shirt hangers but there a bit soft.

I used a bendable rod I got out the helicopter section of the LHS. Heck a clipped coat hanger should do the trick.

Stainless bicycle spokes or check rower hobbies. Traxxas makes a really long one with one end hooped. Its about 6" long. Theyre cheap too.
