Roll bar upgrade

Post by MShark » Sat May 02, 2015 6:09 pm

I have the IRC rollbar on my Savage. After every bashing session the rollbar is twisted, misaligned, and bent in ridiculous angles. I'm not even doing backflips on a regular basis. What's a good rollbar that can handle roof landings? After every session I'm hammering back my rollbar into shape.

The stock savage x plastic hoop roll bar is very strong. Not a mark on my engine head and it also makes a good handel to pick the truck up when the bodys on

well the stock plastic rollbar for X or the XL can't fit on an extended IRC chassis (too long for the X, a little short for the XL) And when I had the stock rollbar before, I had bent cooling fins even when I raised the rollbar a tad bit.

I'm wondering how the old stock Savage 25 rollbar holds up. Any thoughts on that old rollbar? It's the same shape as the IRC one.

From your pics, the original roll bar won't do the trick. I gave up replacing them, and just hammered them straight every couple weeks.

You can still use the x roll bar just not the extended engine protector part.
savage x ss Lrp zr.30, octane cage and mod radio box, ofna mid tank 250cc, integy saver front/rear hubs, sv250 mod 3 spd, no mix arm throttle, hitec 5645 5625 servos, 4xbb 4xstd shocks w/35wt, flux drivetrain, 30k wt diff oil,  new era wing, tonys screws

What about the older stock savage 25 rollbar? It looks like the same shape as the IRC one

Not sure what your secret is then,  but I've bent up twp cooling heads (one HPI and one Novarrosi) with the stock protector.

I think it's weak as *censored*.

Or the third and highly likely option...I'm a poor driver. ;-) I have the IRC one, similar issues but nothing like that stock one.

I have a pretty cool design in my head I'm looking for a manufacurer to fabricate me a set or a bunch of them and I sell them, but they (hint hint) will work and have a smaller footprint than any current ones on the market. If you guys know of anyone let me know.,

Ha ha, no pics, waiting to find a manufacturer, but think in terms of "why don't truggies use a roll bar?" I;'m not looking to make a sent though (well, maybe pay for my rol l bar). I'd buy about 50 of them and would have no problem selling them.

Don't  know anything about the 25 roll bar (is that the purple  one?_.

Chris, do you know if that roll bar comes with a lifetime warranty? Thx

As I said above, the stock roll bar won't hold up any better than the IRC one. Been there.

Squid are you referring to the stock savage x or savage 25 roll bar? The IRC one seems to use a soft metal for their rollbar. It would have been nice if they made it out of he same material as the TVPs

I checked it.

"This roll bar is made from high grade 6082-T6 Aluminium."

"These TVP's are made from 4mm 6082-T6 Thick Aluminum giving a added 60% overall of strength to the savage."

Same material,  Rollbar is 3mm tthick.

The roll bar was the same from the .21 on up until they went to the plastic one.
