The Nitro Shop Engine Help

Post by pukas84 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 12:09 am

Planning to get the Tuned Rex Legend 28-8 from "The Nitro Shop".  Is the Tuned Picco 5tx Team Ceramic a better choice?  Or is there even a better engine to get. Don't have that much funds, so trying to get the best bang for the buck.  Thank you.

The 28-8 is the perfect weapon for the budget minded...... the Puicco 5X is a offroad Race .21 that is not compatible with a Savage....

Wow Don't underestimate the German mill 8O  .. Looks tight between the nova and LRP, granted the LRP is .02 larger in capacity. But what surprises me is the bigger capacity mill maxes out at higher rpm - not much in it in terms of overall HP though. Based on perceived lower build quality and materials doesn't that reduce its lifespan considerably?

In your experience would the nova have better durability and longer life or is that just BS when it comes to model engines? If either is better quality what could you expect that to translate to in terms of additional mileage - a gallon or two?

Just out of curiosity did you run both on nova or dynamite pipe and mani combo?

And what sort of avg mileage can you expect to get out of it? In terms of litres or gallons under best case operating conditions?

Sadly that is impossible to answer with any sort of accuracy....i would say 80% of engines get toasted from sucking dirt ..so if you can keep the dirt out the engines lifespan should be very good !

Nitrojedi: what type of pipe do you recommend for the modified LRP 30?  Need a pipe with some good performance but not too loud.  Thank you.

I hear the LRP has most power stock, and they publish 4.12 HP but apparently doesn't have as much top end as the Nova (2.9HP) or Picco (3.12 HP).

Jedi is best placed to answer this, but I went with Nova because I prefer smaller capacity higher revving engines with strong top end. What I can tell you is after running 10 tanks through my Nova 28-8RT it seems like it has excellent top end and plenty of bottom end as well. Your pipe and manifold selection will also have significant impact on power band.

The LRP carb is not insulated, but Jedi has worked extensively with these engines so if he doesn't think it's an issue it probably isn't.
