Part# list for Flux 5SC center diff

Post by Ascender » Sun Aug 19, 2012 4:37 pm

HPI Europe finally has the parts up for the 5SC center diff. I found them on a Euro site, and I'll be ordering when I have the cash. I'm including everything except for the cup, which is just a regular Savage cup, and the internal gears, which appear to be the two-spider set. (It would, of course, be better to use the four-spider set, or better yet, the GPM SSAV1200 hardened steel set.)

Nice write up Ascender which will come in handy later on

Still waiting for the online shop in the US I favor to get some of the other parts in for the Super 5SC (to finish my TVP design/5T build). I know there are a lot of the Euro shops have them and some of the US shops but European shops are dear and some of the US shops don't ship to New Zealand

Interesting, they actually made it fit inside standard gearbox?
I also noticed twin slipper assembly - may be a good upgrade for flux... since the original slipper is almost useless

I can't find a 106283 anywhere. Lots of "out of stock" messages, but nothing else. HPI doesn't list it anywhere, even on the Japanese site. If you're asking about the differential case, it's the same one used in the bulkheads.

MasterB: the cup sits in the cavity designed to fit the optional reverse module on the nitro Savage, lots of room.

This is interesting!! There is hope of a drop in center diff for my Savvy. Now..... if I could just use a starter box on my Savvy as well I'd be in HEAVEN!!!
Thanks to all the GOOD people on this site!!

What about the diff outdrives 106279 that you can see in the CD breakdown in the manual? Or am i missing something here? Ah i think i have it sussed is 106277 a kit with both these in it?
So with that top two sets of part numbers you list, that is everything needed for bolt in CD apart from from Diff cup and internal gears? I have a Vorza CD sitting here so i should be able to remove the spur gear off this, fill with 500k diff fluid, bolt on 106273 assemble it all and go? Again sorry for the noob questions i just want to clarify this as it takes minimum two weeks for parts to get to me and i dont want to get all the bits here and find out im missing a small part and have to wait another couple weeks.
Cheers and thanks for your help
Simon

Interesting... they seem to have changed some of the parts numbers during development or something. I ordered from Active Powersports, and they have the diff shafts listed as 106277, and the manual says 106277 in the parts list, but the exploded view says 106279.

Won't be the first time an HPI manual had something screwed up in it.

The spacer kit and upper drive gear are on backorder, so I won't be getting my parts for a while yet, myself. If something IS missing, then it's something HPI changed about the parts kits.

Active power sports huh? Ive ordered from them before, it would seem there a middle of sorts, they claim to have things in stock when they really dont. They just place the order when you do, thus taking more time for the part to reach you. I will say this if you do screw up and order they will work with you. Just not my first place I go when buying parts.

I have found that somethings listed in the europe manuals sometimes have different part numbers and you cant get the parts in america

Its a pity there is noone tearing brand new ones to bits and selling them on Ebay like alot of the of the popular trucks. Would be nice and easy to just buy a whole trans off there and either just bolt it in or swap all the internals straight over. And yeah ascender those are the same bits on back order at the couple of places i looked for parts, some even say order pending.

Sorry for the long delay, finding ten minutes together to work on my truck has been near impossible lately.

I finally got the diff installed yesterday. It's a tight fit in the case, but it does indeed fit. All the part numbers I listed above are correct, but you will also need some bearings:

The B032 is for the diff cup bearing, it seats in the front outdrive bearing insert on the case, with the smaller bearing on the shaft itself. The manual lays it out on the exploded view.
