New exhaust!

Post by wdim89 » Fri Aug 30, 2013 8:31 pm

Hi SC so after running a about 10 tanks on my new savage x 4.6 the stock exhaust melted. So I've been researching which exhausts are good and i think the ones in My price range (~$50) are the OFNA 086 and Dynamite 053 and 086. Which one out of these is considered the better option. My question is are these 2 exhausts good for my truck? Any other options around $50 that i don't know about.

Thanks

OFNA 086 would get my vote. Most people sat th dynamite 086 is pretty much the same.

Just remember the 086 style pipe is made to fit the left side of a buggy. So to mount it on the right side of your savage you might want to redrill the mounting flanges to get a real nice fit-up.  Before I got a ERCM pipe I ran an Ofna 086.

Both are good. I hear the ofna makes a tiny bit more power but the dynamite  has the reinforced stinger. If it's going on a savage x get the ofna. The dynamite header will be too long and hit the shock tower.

Unfortunately ERCM is not producing any new pipes until March or April according to Robin - when I inquired about my order and finally got hold of him he told me that I would have to wait. For my new Picco .28 I ordered a OFNA 086 in it's place but didn't realize it was a lefty. Any suggestions on mounting this without damage to the back pressure fitting hitting the TVP?

I just used a coat hanger and bent it to fit. Been on there forever with no problems. Here is a pic that shows it.

Looks good...and great idea! I have a HPI tuned pipe now with mount and spring that will work good too I think. Does the stinger point straight at your tire? From the picture it looks like the exhaust would blow against the tire or is it just the angle from that view? Nevertheless looks good :)

The stinger is a good 4-5 inches in front of the tire.. :)  It is just the angle of the picture..

Nice wheels..  I love the Badlands..

Good deal - I don't have my Picco .28 or FLM TVPs yet so I can't install the pipe - just preparing... :) Those are nice tires for sure. Thanks!

Correct it's far from the wheels. I cut a hole in the side of the body for the stinger and it works great.

Tommy...most mainstream pipes will be left-mount, but as Leroy said just turn it upside down. I might have written a long version of this on my forum, but be cognizant of the roto-start gear boxes vs the OFNA/Dynamite/Novarossi header inlet plates. So as an example...I could not fit a Dynamite header on my F4.6 that has the new gear box....(well I could but it would have ran like sh*t)...whereas with the older version Dynamite headers fit like a champ. I am unsure of the Picco gear box but again be prepated for anything and if it doesn't fit don't settle.

Finally, my son and I will be at Mike's Saturday morning from dusk until we either run out of fuel or vehicles our break down...this of course assuming we stay dry. ;-) It would be cool if you can make it I want to show you how these clocked engines get busy....and that is best illustrated by putting them on the track against something else.

Can you run the pipe with the back pressure upside down? I was told that's not a good idea...

My Picco won't be here in time for Saturday but I will run up there to see how the pros do it and I'll drop of that gearbox if you want to still fool with it. Txt me when you guys are heading up there...
