Welcome Virtual RC Racing

Post by Squid » Thu Oct 15, 2009 4:31 pm

First off I would like to welcome Virtual RC Racing to the Savage-Central comunity. ?Virtual RC Racing provides an on-line racing experiance, and is making a special offer to Savage-Central members for racing this winter. ?As of now, the racing is on road only, but off road racing is coming soon. ?Tim from Virtual RC Racing will be providing us with more info in the very near future, and is going to supply several USB recievers for us to give away to our members. ?We have not yet worked out the details of the give away, so stay tuned.

And having personal experiance in 1/12th scale carpet road racing, your off road skills will be improved also if you participate in on road racing.

Check back to see new info and developments in this forum.

Saw the game before but the ''only onroad element'' was a deal breaker for me. Excited to see what the offroad version can offer :)

I understand completly, when I first got into RC Racing, the on road seemed like a waste of time.  But in all honesty, live on road racing (I can't speak for the Virtual onroad yet) actually improves your off road game way more than you would think.

Welcome VRCR! This might be a nice option for me seeing how all my RCs are over 300 miles away.

Have a look around.  I've been playing on and off for awhile and virtual rc is the real deal.  I am certain that you will enjoy it and look out for when the off road version goes live.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. It is very interesting to see how the Savage Central community has responded to Virtual RC so far. You guys seem to be enthusiastic openminded sceptics. Being sceptic about an on-road rc racing simulator is understandable because of the discrepancies between on-road and off-road racing, but as Squid already stated above it is also true that they are sufficiently similar to allow for transfer effects in learning and off-road skill improvement. We've studied this effect in our VRC community and the results support this assumption significantly! And this is not at all surprising, I mean... rc racing is all about subtle hand-eye coordination and especially your ability to adapt to different circumstances. This is of course where VRC onroad racing becomes an opportunity as it is poses such different circumstances yet it is also sufficiently similar in terms of a hand-eye coordination activity.

Apart from the learning effects, VRC is simply also a lot of fun and not to forget it is free...The demo software is entirely free and not time-restricted, it also comes with 3 free tracks (incl. a parkinglot/stuntpark, oval speedway, and Oslo).

One more thing. Should you consider buying the adapter, then please wait because I am in the process of getting you guys some very interesting packs and discounts! I am trying to get you guys the full game software + 1 extra free track + usb adapter for $20. I'll keep you informed, and again thanks for being so hospitable.

Cheers,

Tim Bervoets

I'll probably be up for this when I get my radio equipment over here to where I currently live. It's about time it got some race time under it's belt!

It's nice to have a real person here to talk to us about VRC, thanks Tim.

I downloaded the demo software and while the keyboard stinks for control, it was quite fun to run, gas up, change tires all in a demo race with 9 contendors. Drifting was quite challenging. Looking forward to learning more about this mode of RC racing. Dave

This sounds awesome. I have been playing quite a bit with my key board, but i kind of gave up because its just to hard. I cant wait to start proper racing with my radio.

Virtual RC racing is really meant to be raced with your own radio gear... Have a great weekend all,

Well I'm all set up, tried it with the keyboard, and it is nearlly impossible.

With a controller it would be alot of fun. I think it will be fun to race against my savage central freinds.

I really want to get into this, was we going to get some deals on this stuff? I'd like to know before I buy.

The special Savage Central VRC adaptor deals are available. I've also published a schedule of the winter races and announced a Savage Central Challenge with prizes to win.
