Five (5) New Topics in VRC Racing's Online Forum

Post by Wheelin_Rev » Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:18 pm

I have placed five (5) new topics in the VRC Racing's Online Forum in hopes of cathing the designers' attention to get some detailed aswers about the VRC Gaming Adapter. They can be found here:

http://www.virtualrc.com/forums/forumtopics.aspx?fid=3

The five topics are:
1. VRC-2 USB Adapter's Red LED Functionality
2. VRC-2 USB Adapter's Vulnerability to RFI
3. Which Steering Device to Select
4. VRC Game Calibration Not Working
5. VRC USB Adapter's Wire Functionality

If any of you all would like to answer/track/add-to those topics either here or in the Virtual RC Official Online Forum area, your participation would be greatly appreciated.

I have gotten the gaming adpater to work in various modes and with the track software but not to 100% with how it should be operating. Still fiddling with the configuration just to get it hooked up.

Thanks for you help, everyone!

Have you gotten the issues sorted out with your adaptor?

Squid,

Thanks for asking. I am still having some issues on an intermittent basis.

The adapter that I have is a USB Version 3 for analog systems (27 MHz).

On insertion of the USB connector, there is only a 10% probablility thst it that the adapter will be properly recognized. By simply plugging and unplugging the connector about every 10 times, the connection is properly reconized as the USB Adpater for VRC. The other 9 times the USB connection errors out.

The second major hurdle to clear is the calibration. Using the Windows calibration is quirky because there are no momentary contacts. I use the brake function although it appears as a variable input. Since the steering control is not a complete circle, that too is quirky.

Assuming that I make it to inline play, steering is very sensitive as is throttle and brakeing.

I have made some laps although it is not quite as much fun as I was hoping for. Some of my problem may be car configurating. I do not fully understand how each of the car's parameters affects the car's handling.

Bottom line? I need to stick with it and learn.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner.  I had issues calibrating also, but just skipped the pushing a button step.  I did have to do it several times.  I also found the if I plugged in the adaptor before I opened the game, that it worked 99.9% of the time, instead of plugging it in after the game was started.

Have you Read the manual?  I thought I was screwed until I did, and I saved it to my harddrive for future referance.

I probably should re-read the manual. I, like a dummy, did not save it to my hard drive. Do you have a link to the manual handy? TIA! Dave
