looking for a good motor and esc combo for 7 year old

Post by BigBadBronx72 » Sun Jun 26, 2016 9:55 pm

What would be a good esc motor combo for a stock XS to continue teaching my 7 yr old nephew how to handle his first hobby grade RC in his Savage XS? Transplanted an esc/15T motor from an old Vattera V100 and looks like the motor got smoked. Probaby need to change pinion too. Any suggestions?

On an indoor 30X60 off road track a 13.5 with a HobbyWing just stock is on the edge for me, but I only had a couple of packs to play before the steering servo went. Honestly it's a good starting point as the power seems good and not over the top. I tried a 17.5, but it got real hot real quick. the XS is a heavy truck for its size, ad you need enough motor to get it moving.
