Always breaking..

Post by Mudfrog » Fri May 24, 2013 8:18 pm

I've managed to get 4 packs through this truck.. it's been down countless times and I've already spent WAY to much money on it.. my latest carnage.. 2 broke drive cups and 3 bent / twisted dog bones.  All on a completely stock truck with 2s 25c lipo.

I bought it to jump, and I do jump it fairly hard.  My jumps range in 10-20 feet (distance not height).  I don't think my shocks were dialed in correctly so I have the springs much stiffer.  Is there a better shock or shock weight / spring combo I should be using for jumping?

So what happen did the dogbone get bent first then the wobble took out the drive thingy?

From what I'm reading it seems the drive cup goes first then the dog bones twist and bend.  I could be wrong though.

Two of my HR drive cups came in so I bent and twisted my dog bones back to stock and I'm on the trails again.  Now I'm just waiting for the rest of the parts that are on order.

Real simple solution, don't be on the throttle or brakes when you land your jumps. The only r/c setups that can handle that are ones equipped with a center diff and good cvd's. Like 1/8th scale buggies and truggies

i had the exact same problem with mine at first and i purchased it for the same reasons......(jumpping and jumping hard) anyways, get yourself another set of shocks (4 of them) and make it a dual suspesion all around. (or put some stampede rear shocks on it all around (4 of them) Use 50k oil in them as well. loosen slipper to factory setting, and finally put on a set of the heavy duty axles on her. They are more expensive at first but you wont be buying the other ones ever again. I have tested and spent alot of money on this xs and since then i have it to were its not breaking every time i go out and bash...good luck
