Just bought an xs... and I have horrible run times ?

Post by Sniperofgods » Thu Oct 10, 2013 1:13 pm

So I just got my savage flux xs on monday and I am running a gens ace 5000mah 2s pack. I am getting run times of 3-4 mins with a lot of punch then nearly no speed at all to where the point the truck is pulsing back and forth. But if I let it rest for a min or two it will have that same punch as a fresh pack for about 10 seconds or so.

At first I was thinking oh it must be getting too hot, well I temp gunned it and it was barely over 100 degrees as well as the esc and battery. Then I started thinking it could be my batteries so I swapped out my other gens ace 5000mah 2s pack and it does the same thing... and each time the batteries go on the charger both cells are sitting above 3.85 volts. Charged both the batteries back up and put them in my savage flux hp and it screamed for a good 40 mins or so.

Then I hooked up the xs flux to castle link and checked all my settings and put my cutoff from 3.0 (factory) up to 3.4 and lowered my brake reverse.

Any ideas on what I should do ? I just got the thing and while it is a fun truck I am getting maybe 10-15mins out of 2 packs... my flux hp runs almost three times that and goes just as fast and is atleast 2-3 yimes heavier... so should I contact hpi and see what they say or try and troubleshoot it and or if anyone knows what could cause this ?

I would call customer support. I'm sure they will fix you up.

Does it go from extremely fast to about 10-15mph full throttle runs in under 3-4 mins ? Because that's what mine is doing :S.

I use 5000mah 2S batteries and get around 15 minutes when doing a lot of high speed running?  Some something is up with either your electronics or battery I'd say.

Turned out it was both of my gens ace I couldn't get my battery tray closed but I zipped tied it for a demo and got it worked out lol. They both read fine on my charger, I am gonna run some discharge/charge cycles through them and see if it fixes anything on them. But I will probably just end up modding my battery tray and running my other lipos.

I have this exact same problem with mine, while I'm running a 120amp Hobbywing ESC. I had it with one battery and the other (which is identical) I didn't have it. I think they call it voltage sag right? I've had it before with older batteries in other trucks.

I think due to the weight of the little truck it does tax 2s batts pretty severly, that's why people puff Lipo's with this truck also.
