will it come with 4 spider gears in the diffs?

It's a 2 shoe setup.

Here's the diff assembly

It's the identical diff setup. You'd think with the added power of the .25 they would move to the 4 spider setup. Oh well.

lookign thru the instruction set.. im not BUYING a ss.. no way... not happening.. they dont even give better clutch, engine mount, diff mod, servo savers, the cf arm attachment braces, air filter, ALUMINUM 18-22T GEAR and there were a few other things...

i bet a savage pro comes out in less than a year with all the stuff i mentioned with no engine, or radio... maybe not the diff mod.. WE ALL NEED TO BUG HPI ON THE FACT OUR DIFFS ARE FAILING

for now even the savage i just sold as a roller had more hopups than the ss comes with vs the rtr..

well since it's a kit we could simply take the diff apart before installing it. Unlike with the RTR where other parts need to be removed before the diff. HPI says the diffs are pre-built we just have to install them. Just take them apart then modify and install.

The fact that the engine is upgraded, dogbones, spirngs and exhaust (if there's a performance difference) it is worth it. Yes, you need a radio, but what are we talking about, maybe a $100, or more, depending on what you get. Plus since you have to put it together, you can modify things as you go, like the diffs and transmission.

CRS, there are a lot of questions about the instructions. Looking at the part numbers for the "upgraded" parts, I noticed that they had the same info as the reg Savage. Look at the part numbers for the springs. They are the same number as the red ones. There are several other things like that that make me think the instruction sheet was not finished quite yet.

I was planning on buying a used Savage anyway. They have been going for about $300-350 for a used one with some hop-ups. For about the same price, you get a NEW truck w/ a ton of hop-ups. It's just a good deal. I have my truck apart after almost every bashing session to inspect/replace worn parts so they don't fail on me while I'm bashing. The SS is a perfect choice for me. I can have one tore apart and still go bashing with the other if I want. I can't wait to get one! 8)

I got my Savage SS a few days ago (the version with the Engine), and have done the initial build. Here are a couple of pictures.

The box after bringing it home...

The excitement begins!

The build is complete.

I had a *itc* of a time trying to start it, and went over everything on the engine. Turns out the glowplug was no good, I changed it to an OS and it started halfway through the first pull with the new plug installed!

It is running good so far, just completed the break in.

How can I get a Savage SS right now? Towerhobbies says they'll be available mid Sept. Hobbypeople says they're on backorder.
