I looped a rubber band around the right TVP and then around the carb to the ball joint. It isn't as resistant as a spring, but will close the carb shut in case of a ball cup popping off or something
Don't bother with bustin out your modified T-MAXX, I'll run it over, and you might want to run too when you see me coming because I ALWAYS drive it like I stole it!!!

Hey crs, in the picture of the assembled steering setup, does he have the gpm tie rod facing the right way or is this the hot setup for better steering, it looks backwards compared to the manual. :?:

I did the servo saver mod just like outlined in your article. The arm on the MP servo saver( the arm that connects to the GPM steering link) hits the differential before the servo tops out. I'm using the mod on an SS, and am still in the building stage. I've been trying to sort the steering out for a few days, so I decided to ask for some help. I read your article and purchased all of the mod parts and then some. I'd really like to get this thing on the road, all the guys at work are already running their trucks. Theirs don't have as many mod yet though. Any help would be great! Thanx

Hi CRS. My set-up looks exactly like your set-up, with the exception of a GPM steering link. The guy who posted that he is using both of the MP parts, I tried that too, no luck. I even disassembled the servo saver and inverted the pieces, still no luck. I know I can just assemble the truck with the stock stuff, but I sure would like to use the mod. Thanx

I'm really not sure what the whole confusion is over the MP servo saver. I used both of the posts that came with it, they went in, it works better. No binding or hitting, pretty easy. Maybe my Savage is different, I have a hitec 625 if that makes a world of difference.

Hey also check out your servo horn placement and the length of the arm coming off of it if you have an adjustable one. Take the servo horn off then turn the radio on and make sure that the steering servo is centered. Then with the servo horn attatched to the servosaver, line the servosaver up so it is centered. Next, keeping the servo saver centered, put the servo horn on where it falls and screw it back on. It sounds to me like the steering was set up biased towards one direction (the one that hit) over the other one. Check it out :D

Thanks to all who replied to my posts. Since I am still in the build process and would really like to drive my truck (one of the guys at work let me drive his RTR25 and now I got the fever), I assembled the steering with the stock parts. Of course I added in the bearings from the MP servo saver and am using the GPM cross-link. I will put all the extra pieces in a bag and come back to this later. I didn't give up on this set-up, I just need to move on with the rest of the build. If anyone reads my posts and has had the same problem, please do respond, I'd like to hear about their problems/successes.
Thanx to all.

Hey pirate , thats a good idea, just return to the steering build when you feel comfortasble, no rush, after all you want to get it right, I had to do that also, just got frustrated and had to stop for a bit.

GPM Drag link... Are people buying the entire kit and just using the drag link?
http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=25337

Or is there a part number where I can order just the drag link?

I'd like to get this, but I only want the drag link, not the other stuff that will hit the trash as soon as I open the package.

Thanks if you can help
